Anyone ever get bullied in school?

I was bullied quite badly throughout all my school years and I still find myself as a grown woman being sought out by the same sort of people in my adult life. Still crippled by these people that like doing harm to others.

Anyone get bullied before? How did you handle it? Do you still encounter the same sort of people?

I don't consider myself 'bullied' per say but I was definitely teased and ridiculed...I think, in the long run this has helped me because I care very little what others I don't know/like care about me

I did too in middle school and high school, it was difficult of course but became a major motivation to succeed! Who doesn't wanna go back to their high school and tell everyone to suck it?!

I was bullied some when I was younger, only because my older brother was a freak and got bullied a lot, so some kids thought I must be the same way. I remember once my dad (a very harmless looking, peace loving physicist) grabbing a kid by the neck after he spat on me and told him if he didn't treat me with respect, my dad would crush him. That kid was nice to me from that day forward.
I do NOT get bullied ever anymore and stand up for the defenseless.
Both of my children are champions of the bullied. My daughter once picked up her friend and carried her out of a circle where the girl was getting beat up. My son always steps in and defends kids that are getting picked on.

That doesn't make you a bully...bully's pick on people weaker than them. Picking on a bully makes you a scrapper! LOL

Yes, I was bullied relentlessly through elementary school. I was very "different" even back then. I came from a family with little money, and lots of problems. It was really awful specially in 5th grade. I'd go to bed and just cry and pray myself to sleep. Then in middle school I got fed up finally just got tough, fought did whatever to stop the bullying. It finally stopped. I have never really gotten over it. I also have a very shy demeanor because of it. I don't trust anybody, etc.
The good thing though is it made me compassionate. I stick up for the underdog and just HATE mean people.

Ugh. This is terrible, but unfortunatly I think it's the nature of the beast. Competitions based on looks are going to be this way. You can't stop people from making nasty remarks about you, but you can contole how you handle it. First off, I have to applaud you for being in this competition in the first place. I would be to chicken to do it myself. I've been in two pin up girl contests, one of wich I won 1st, the other I got 3rd. I was quaking in my heels for both of them and I am USED to being on stage! I remember after getting 3rd, there was a deluge of nasty comments from my friends posted on my facebook page about the two gals who placed ahead of me. I had to quickly delete all of them because I was fb friends with the other two girls and I didn't want them to see all of the horrid things my friends were saying about them! I would have been mortified if the gal who got first saw what these people (who don't know how sweet she is) were saying about her!
This girl who called you fat was just doing the same thing. It's mean, catty, and misguided, but unfortunatly it's human nature.
I think it's awesome you are a curvy, beauiful woman who is in FIRST PLACE!!! They called you "fat" and you are in FIRST PLACE! Isn't that totaly awesome!? You're blowing their small minds, dolls face, and they don't know what to do! lol. But they don't matter. What matters is all of the people who have voted for you, who are rooting for you, and who love you for you. Find some joy in this competition and be proud that you've come this far, and even though you've been bullied in your life, you had the guts to enter this contest.

Dear Mis. Zen,

I was not really bullied most my life, but I do know what it's like to be humiliated in front of my piers, or ostrecized by a group of people, etc. I starting fist fighting when I was probably 12-13 years old and got better and better at that. I handled my problems that way for years. Then, after too many problems with that, I had to figure out a better way to deal with people who treated me unfairly or cruely. I'm still trying to figure it out. For the most part, and like I tell my daughter, I just stear clear of the people who are mean to me, and hold on to the people who truely like me. I learned a technique in batterer's class to put all my past hurt feelings, bad memories, and mean people inside a soft little bubble deep inside me, and anytime I began to think about them or the things they said/did I would remember they were in that bubble that was soft on the outside and couldn't hurt me anymore and made myself think about some good things that have happened in my life and went on with my day. Most people have a difficult time being polite, or respectfull of others, by either being loud mouths, self centered, greedy, users, two faced, etc. So try to stick to your true friend(s), I have very few in my 35 years of age, but I am happy. And, as soon as I see through a person who is a bad seed I tell them so and tell them I don't want to be around them anymore and then I ignore them and whatever they say. Anyone who truely knows me would believe in me and anyone who questions me I just say to them to give it time and you'll find out for yourself. Hope that helps. Good luck in the contest.

I always wrote it off as a rite of passage that everyone went thru. In time all of the differences that people made fun of that made me 'ME' have come to pass in later life as something cool and desirable. Hang in there and be yourself and forgive the haters (for your sake not theirs).
