I am considering this to be my next piercing, I am only worried about strange scarring and discomfort of the piercing..

Pro's and Con's if you have had it done.

Sorry about the huge photo!
I had my lower lip lip pierced a couple of years ago but since then took it off. Like with any pierce you have to be careful during the healing process. I had no problem with it, mild discomfort until it heals, a little swelling...
That reminds me, the only thing that annoyed me was that during the healing you have to wear a bigger pierce to make room for the swelling. I hated it because I only wanted a tiny one and ended up with a huge black one.
Now the pierce closed and I have almost no scars at all, it just looks like a little white spot that gets covered really easy when I'm wearing makeup

I hope this helps. if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
I have never heard or seen that before. Why is it called a Medusa piercing?
I had a medusa piercing, and it is pretty uncomfortable. Definitely more painful than the labret or the lower lip. But not too painful either. When I took it out, I only have a tiny little scar that you can barely see. I massaged the scar tissue daily.....so you can just barely feel on the inside where it was. It is worth it, I loved that piercing! Hope this helps!
I had this done, as well as my labret, and snake bites, I have scars, and you can see them, but its nothing I am embarrassed about. Most people know that it is from a piercing and they are light and you have to really look see them
I had snakebites for the longest time before finally just growing tired of them and taking them out. The scars aren't noticeable, and funny enough, They never closed...I can still put rings in.

I still have my monroe, and with having that I would almost HAVE to get the other side done.
I think it would look funny if I had just one monroe, and the medusa.
*sigh* I really want another piercing, But just have had almost everything pierced.

I sincerly want to corset piercings, I know they are only temp, but would make a kickass shoot!
Love the photo, love how it looks, go for it! I think its all about scale, that size fits perfect with her lips.

EDIT: Just read you have a monroe, I think it may look unbalanced.
Agreed. As a piercer, I would say that this is a *beautiful* piercing but it would look a little strange with a Monroe. It can take a bit to heal because of how much your mouth moves and the jewelry can get caught on your teeth from time to time. Be aware that when you get it done, the jewelry will be on the long side to accommodate for swelling. So you'll have an" antennae" (thats what I always call them lol) for about a week to 10 days until the swelling goes down. Then you can get a shorter stud. If you take good care of it, there should be minimal scaring if you decide to take it out. Nothing some TLC with emu or vitamin e oil can't help!

I have it done and I love mine! I actually stretched mine to a 10g, so when I do end up taking it out, it probably will leave a pretty scar! But, I've had both monroes (whatever they're called) and the right side of my lip done, just regular 14g's. I've taken those out and they leave a tiny bit of a mark, but nothing too noticable I think!

I've never really had any discomfort with the piercing. I'm not not sure how your lips are, but with mine, it doesn't rub up against my gums or anything. Sometimes I forget it's there because I can barely feel it!

Hope that helped! xox
If you already have a monroe, I think it would look unbalanced. Maybe a snakebite instead would be more complimentary?
I have had snakebites, and figured if I did get my medusa pierced.. I would have to pierce my other monroe. And that might look silly.

If you must try it, you know to get it out of your system, try a small gauge, and a pretty gem in either clear or pinkish so it blends in and doesnt compete with the monroe. Or tone down the monroe. just a thought.
