It's different for everyone, but spend some time reading through this forum. There are a ton of good discussions about diet in here. Just remember, what works for one person, may not work for the next.
that is very true, thank you so much for the advice i'll definately look around Roxy Tart {Madam} said:

calorie counting has been my only success story; but different things work for different people.
I am a big fan of the Paleo-diet or caveman diet.
Pretty much you just eat healthy fruits, veggies, meat and dairy. Limit processed foods and refined carbs. Eat like a caveman is the best explanation.

I love this diet! Have been on it for a while, lost 40 lbs and feel better than ever!
I agree with Cherry...I've always been taught that calories in has to equal calories out. So you have to eat healthy foods and keep your calories low (I eat about 1200 calories/day), but you won't see the best results unless you exercise too.

Last year I lost 20 pounds with Weight Watchers, it was pretty easy. I didn't really do much of anything concerning exercise. I am doing it again this year to lose another 8 lbs. The Weight Watchers is just like calorie counting, but using a point system. It works better for me since I am forced to think about what I eat before I eat it.
The Paleo Diet is AMAZING. My husband follows it...it's more of a lifestyle than I diet. He loves it and has dropped over 40 lbs. The Paleo diet is so simple, that it's brilliant. We were designed to eat a certain way, and only started changing what we ate about 10,000 years ago. That's not sufficient enough time for us to have evolved. Man was created Lactos Intolerant...we weren't made to drink milk after we were weaned from our mothers....it's evident that we haven't evolved past that...over HALF the human race is STILL lactos intolerant! If we eat what our bodies were designed to eat, then we can live fuller, happier lives, HEALTHIER lives!

One thing though, there shouldn't be any dairy on the Paleo diet. Paleolithic man didn't drink milk or use dairy, that tech wasn't invented until almost 10,000 years later. Also, no gluten (pasta, bread, wheat, oats, potatoes etc), no processed sugar, and for the most part, no beans/legumes. I know that sounds restrictive, but it REALLY isn't. It's a VERY simple diet, and it's awesome because you can eat until you're full. Lots of lean protein, veggies and fruits.

My husband has about 5 different cook books that are amazing, they even come with recipes for deserts! (because milk chocolate obviously wasn't available back then) He makes GREAT meals, and I've been starting to eat Paleo as well...I've only been doing it for a month, and I'm 15 lbs lighter!!! Keep in mind, that's with almost NO exercise (maybe walking 30 minutes a day) It's INCREDIBLE. We're converting the whole household into a Paleo Home. I have a 1 day per week "cheat day" where I'll have a sugary treat...but I'm starting to find that I don't CRAVE sugar like I used to! The kids are kicking and screaming about it (due to the veggies) but as long as they eat the meat, and take their multivitamin, I'm happy.....they'll come around. We're even doing a completely Paleo Thanksgiving!

basically, I highly recommend this way of eating. It gives you energy, stamina, focus and HEALTH. I've SEEN it work, I've FELT it work...it WORKS. The best thing about this way of eating...is that we're ALL human, it will work for EVERYONE.

I have been a Vegan for years and am in better shape in my 30s than in my teens. Cutting out processed crap and eating real food and excersising is the best way, but calorie counting is still important too (though be careful of sugar substitutes to cut cals, they can be bad for you) changing your diet should make you better not worse dont fall in to the trap of trading out feeling good for looking good. A long term positive change will give the best results inside and out...most "diets" are short term and useless.
Good luck xxx

The only thing I know about dieting is that it is a four letter word! Diets are like fads they come & go.

I learned some thing about self control last week.

Drinking water is a MAJOR factor in being healthy. take your weight, cut it in half. That number in ounces is what your body intake should be.

If you cut out 125 calories a day your weight will go down.

My family (wife, son) have lost a total of 35 pounds in about five weeks. My total goal is 35 pounds. my wife is 70. and our son is about 15.

the challenge is not to do it all in 90 days but to stick to the challenge.

Nutrition is a major factor.
