trying to get into pin-up modeling but donno where to start...

i would like to pursue pinup modeling but have no idea how to go about it.
i go to car shows when they come around,people ask me to take pictures with their cars sometimes but thats pretty much it...

Read the casting calls, spend some time reading this forum, find some amazing photogs and pay for good photos to build your port, and get a killer name.

I'm interested in pn up modeling in Denver,CO, but my problem is that I'm not working and currently attending medical school. I'm more interested in doing for the fun of it, but where can i start and if there's any deals I can talk to someone about?

Read the casting calls, spend some time reading this forum, find some amazing photogs and pay for good photos to build your port, and get a killer name.

You can also use the advanced search to find people in your area.

a good photographer can help to make it all happen. I got lucky, I don't pay him, he doesn't pay me, I agree to "tag along" and help him to sell his photos at car shows and events. its a lot of work, but I have a fantastic Port, and TONS of experience (not to mention a great hook up if i need it). Mean while, ask these ppl taking pics at car shows WHERE the pics are going and Who they are i might be a lead to something bigger. Ask the Car clubs if they need a model, get a buddy to shoot your pic and post them up on here to get feed back on your modeling. build your wardrobe and practice posing and faces in the mirror, Good Luck!

both...i mean eventually if i could do pinup modeling professionally tht would be wonderful but i know thts not going to happen right away or anything

I'm some one who believes your body and mind are capable of doing anything your heart desires you just have to have the drive to get out there accomplish it.

So my advice would be to study the work of old pin-up artists and models

practice your posing in the mirror for sure!! Try making your body just naturally keep flowing into your next pose thinking about it to much can cause you to get stuck and you defiantly want it to be natural not forced.
and photographers love when you have a different movement for every shot it engraves a great memory of you in there head and that will make them want to shoot you often.

The best way to get good and gain more confidence is try to making every movement of yours grace full practice your walk around the house and even when sitting always be cautious of your body language.

A great movie to watch is teasearama and variateese with Bettie Page and Lili St Cyr.

The notion of pin-up modeling professionally isn't really a reality. Some women get paid for it, but it is far more likely that, should someone want a pin-up style shoot, they will hire a model who has experience in many areas. In order to do that, Roxy gave you great advice -- get a good set of photos. Then go on modelmayhem with those great shots and get active on there. Most women who make a career of modeling get signed with an agency, but the pickings are slim for professional models in this area.

Now, if you just want to have some great fun at it, then you have to mix and mingle and get your name out there. I see lots of women having fun just doing what they love to do. I have also worked with "amateurs" who behave better than pros, and pros who have no idea what they are doing!

Also, when you go on shoots, if you don't know the photographer personally, ALWAYS bring someone. If the photographer balks, he's not worth your time.
And when you decide on a name, be original (De Ville, DeVil, De Vil--really?) and don't copy someone else's name (Modela, Van Horn, DeLux-it annoys the originals)

STUDY! Too many girls are out there Bogarting the looks and poses of each other without paying attention to the originals. By originals, I mean Vargas, Elvgren, Petty, and the ladies of the day. Before you set foot in front of a camera, do your research. Study the pose, expressions, clothes, hair, make-up, EVERYTHING to get it right!
Be original. Cultivate your own look.
Once you have that, practice. It may feel silly, but practicing in front of a mirror will help a great deal when you're standing all alone in front of a camera. Just like a dancer rehearses before a mirror to know how her body's look and feel, a good model does the same.
PAY FOR YOUR PHOTOS! As an aspiring model, you have no clout to go around asking for TFC (trade for photos), and it's just rude. Really great photographers advertise specials in the casting call section all the time. Be open to working with new photogs who are willing & looking to do some TFP, but check their portfolios first. It's far better to have a few really great shots than a hundred mediocre ones.
Be safe. Always bring a chaperone (even if you've "met" the photographer before). If your safety offends their delicate artistic sensibilities, then they're not worth shooting with (and either a creep or prima donna... either way, not someone you wan to work with)!
Ask to see the "bad" photos. I've learned more from the bad shots than from the good. And lastly, your grandma was right, don't slouch!
