Advertise on PinupLifestyle
Hi dolls As part of the commitment I took to kick-start the pin-up and rockabilly lifestyle, I and the founder of Rockabilly Romania have decided to start the first 100% romanian pin-up calendar.
We found a classic car garage that will let us use their cars, a photog to take our pictures and some girls. But so far we have no sponsor, no hair and makeup person and the whole figuring out what the outfits will me is on me! And the whole thing will take place on Sept 18!
I am starting to freak out a little so I would appreciate a little help.
I have and idea of what the girls should be wearing, but I'm so afraid that I'm forgetting something and things will go wrong because of me.
Any ideas on how to attract sponsors and advertise this, because that I have no idea how to do.
Any advice/tips would be a blessing.

Thank you all.

Contact shops, designers in your area and also places that would be able to ship you anything so you have it on time. They might be interested in lending out clothing in exchange of their name/logo in the calender.
Try finding a MUA and hairstylist on Model Mayhem.
Someone who can do the hair is IMPORTANT, many people can put on red lipstick and false lashes themselves. But the hairstyles is more complicated if you use girls that don't have any interest in pin up.

If you do this as a collaboration with the models, photographers etc (and not paying anyone) try to attract girls who might be able to do their own styling or have an outfit.

Good luck!!!
Problem is that there are no designers or shops in the entire country! I've searched on mm but there's nobody in our area... we tried going to local salons but nobody is interested and we barely have the money to publish these calendars let alone pay for the hair!

Right now I have two types of girls...models who have no idea about the pin-up or rockabilly but are willing to help and learn and rockabilly girls who know about everything and love this culture but have no idea how to pose...so things are a little tricky.

I have no idea what to do now and as much as I love it I'm starting to regret getting involved in this.

Seems like you got too much work on your hands, these things should be taken cared of before setting a date for the shoot, at least a close date as this...
But don't sweat it... hopefully it will work out!

As it looks now you have the biggest load and seems to be helping with wardrobe, hair and makeup as well with poses. Ask yourself if it's possible to do this?
Or maybe next year?
Better to go out strong and do a great calender and have people wanting to have the next one too then doing it poorly now and ending of not being proud of your work?

If I where in your shoes and wanted to go though with this project I'd:
*Find a friend to help you with this.
*Ask the rockabilly girls to do all their own styling. Provide them with pictures on looks that would work.
* Ask the rockabilly to led out their clothing or just go with the ones with their own wardrobe.
Also be creative and see if you can find cheap vintage lingerie in thrift shops.
*Provide examples of poses for the girls who hasn't got it.
*Study hair and makeup yourself, practice on friends and be sure to help out as much as possible.

This should be a fun thing, tell the girls about your idea and tell them that IF they are interested in the project with you they all need to help out and create this TOGETHER
Make it a fun day for the girls and be at your best temper, bring snacks and drinks and make a day of it.
Be sure to post in the casting calls section. Best way to reach people.
Keep me posted on how you are coming along--if you need any help w/ accessories I would be very willing!
Where ru located? ?
The models you've selected, are they not of the rockabilly/pinup style?
Where is the shoot taking place??
I don't know how much it will do since I'm the only person from my county on this site...but I will. Maybe someone will be travelling nearby.

Oh thank you! Any help would be a total blessing! Any accessories I have are from my own closet and they are not that many or that great.

There are no pin-up models in a 700 km radius from where I live. I've selected a few professional models that have pretty faces (and are not stick figures) and are willing do do unpaid work. At the same time I had to use some ordinary (but equally beautiful) girls from the rockabilly community, because it's their name on the calendar and they have to be involved. But neither one of these girls has ever been in a pin-up photoshoot. It would be great if I could bring one true model from outside, but who would be willing to travel this much without getting paid.
