I'm just curious what people actually DO for a living. Do you love your job? Did you go to school for your job? I have such a strange job, and I'm always curious to hear what people do to make money.

I work offshore, in the gulf of Mexico, on a boat. I am a Life Support Technician, Here is a picture of what my office looks like.
I work on the boat for a month and then I am off work for a month, So I only work 6 months a year.. the rest of the time is vacation.

I currently am a bookkeeper for a small family owned business. My husband and I also own a tattoo shop where i run the website/myspace and facebook accounts. I also do Pinup style hair and makeup for a local photographers clients. Not to mention mother of 2 teenagers. Busy busy busy! But my ultimate dream is to have frequent jobs for pinup/rockabilly modeling & hairstyling. One day!!!
Wow there are so many awesome jobs you guys have, I still think the stay at home thing would drive me stir crazy.
I do alot of math in my job so I know about boring stuff, except mine is all physics and properties of gas. boring nerdy stuff.
I would love to have someone style my hair one day, I've had the same person cut my hair since I was 16 and we have done some crazy stuff, but I've never just had my hair styled, normally she cuts it and washes it, and I go home and do it myself. I've also never had someone do my makeup for me. Weird I guess seeing as how many of you have it done on a regular basis or do it for a living.
I'd love to own a tattoo shop one day.. not tattoo just own the shop, or a bar.
So glad you asked this question! First off Meg, your job sounds BAD ASS! Especially seeing how it's 6 mos on, 6 off... that's wicked!
Well, I am a college grad with a BFA in theatre and performance art. But, I am not running off to Broadway anytime in the near future... or ever. So, the past year I have been apprenticing at American Made Tattoo in Missoula Mt. as a piercer. For the past 6 months, I have been piercing on my own so soon here, my apprenticeship will be over! Whoot! I love my job and my co workers. It's such a lax and chill place to be and I can be myself here no matter what! If you are ever in my neck of the woods and need a new "shiny" come and see me!
That is bad ass Meg A Tron, looks like a spy movie or something where you can make the earth explode with a button xD

I worked for 3 years after finishing high school at a department store as a sellswoman and hated it LOL and last summer worked in a huge store (something like wallmart) and it was pretty boring too but needed money.

I wanna focus on my carreer now so I'm currently in my second year in college, studying Visual Comunication Design.
I still would take your job any day of the week. LOL. ;o)

Best.Answer.Ever. haha, can you tell me how to make MY job sound cooler? I'm a hairsylist. I work about 18-20 hours a week and when I'm home, I'm taking care of my two wonderful amazing beautiful kids. Oh well three kids if you count my husband too. ;-)
MEG: BEST OFFICE EVER! ! ! ! !!

I've worked in the tech industry all my life, the past 12+ years have been in Operations, I was laid off about 3mo ago and haven't had a single interview with a stellar resumé. Since then so many things have fallen into place and Ive begun to rethink and recalibrate my desires a bit. I've also picked up my camera once again and from judging the early comments I seem to be onto something. Who knows what the future holds...I can say there are some amazing announcements soon!
wooooowww!!!! Now I'm not working but in the pasta I was hairstylist, work in a mobile phone shop, Zara, ...In Spain we only have 1 month for holidays....
I'm currently employed with Party City! Yay for retail! Haha. I've only been with them for a couple of months, but I love my job. There's always something to do, so I'm consistently busy. I LOVE party planning, and only ever get to plan one party a year for my son, so working for them makes up for it since I get to help others plan theirs. =0p Plus I get a 30% discount. Can't argue with that!
I also work for The Edge of Hell: "The Granddaddy of Kansas City's Haunted Houses". We're getting ready to start up our 2010 season this weekend, and I can't wait! This is my 5th year working for them!
I've gradually worked my way around and have done many different things throughout the house. This year, I'll be resuming my spot acting as "The Angel in Heaven", which is where I have been for the past 3 years or so. It's super simple, although I spend most of my time running around doing errands for our technical producers. If someone needs something, I'm the go-to-girl that is sent to run after it. The boys make up for it by fetching me cookies from concessions when I want one, though. =0] Plus, I'm on the 5th story of the building, and the quickest way to the first floor, is to go down our 5-story slide. I friggin' love that thing!
I'll also be managing costumes as I did last year, and doing makeup since our usual makeup crew ditched us last year. =0D
woah-
i am a hairdresser...it fits...i enjoy it mostly... taking ballet, in hopes to teach..
Wow! You DO have an interesting job! My job is not nearly as interesting as yours. I'm the bookkeeper for my Father-In-Law's auto parts store/repair shop. My husband works here, too. ...Yep - hubby & I work together. Most people would kill their spouse in this situation. But, it works for us. Quite well, actually. And we both enjoy having each other there. Strange, but true. While I might not LOVE it in the same sense that I LOVED teaching line dance 15 years ago, it works for the moment. We have 2 kids in school. Rather than have the cost of "after-care", I'm allowed to bring them to work after school. They do their homework while I work (whatever work I can actually get done, anyway). And then we all go home. Not all that interesting. But, I'm pretty content with it.
Woah, that looks intense! I am a graphic designer, and I work in publishing. I travel 8-10 times a year for my job, designing newspapers or magazines for conventions. I just got back from 4 days in L.A. yesterday!
