I have been doing pinup and boudoir photography for 3 years. I have to this point been the only photog in the area doing it. Now some chick who does photography part time is renting studio time from another photog and is marketing herself as Savannah's leading pinup photographer. She even named her business very similar to mine. I know she has the right to do so, but of course I'm annoyed. I need suggestions for wording my advertising to indicate I am experienced and the only one in town who has been studying andpracticing classic pinup for years, not days. What would you do? Ignore it or do something? Help me out fellow photogs. I value your opinions.

I am JSO myself but here's my two cents, I know this must be stressful. I think your best bet is to keep on rockin' your camera. If she's new to the scene she's probably not up to par and people appreciate quality. I can't find a facebook fan page for you or a blog. You may consider adding one or both of these to your lineup, it'll really help add buzz about your services. HTH!

I do the advertising for work so i may have a few ideas.
In any advertising say the fact youve been in buisness X amount of years, anyone kinda high up in the pinup world youve worked with ask to use their names. Add how long youve been photographing for. Use your BEST image in the ad.

use free advertising in your local area to the MAX.
not sure if you guys have yell.com (or another online directory) advertise there!
FB pages and blogs.
hand cards out.
Open days, advertise like hell with a flyer get 10% off (make sure you put a date on it!!!)
put your card in rockabilly ect shops in the area. even shops you wouldnt expect to find a pinup in!

Do what ya have to to get YOUR name on peoples lips.

If anyone says theyre gonna recommend you, give them a card to pass on.

people may try her out, but they will come back to the best photographer (you!)

LOL @ Roxy. I met this woman once and she friended me on Facebook. My Fancy Pants Pinups Fan page shows on my personal page. I think she saw me talking about it and decided to try it too. I had a TV commercial shot and it will run all of September. That should put me out there as the go to photog for pinups in this area. I am also doing a bridal show this weekend to promote the Pinup Girl parties for Girl's night out and the photo books for groom gifts. I will squish her like a copycat bug.
