Does a little colour compromise 'vintage'?

Do you think a little colour compromises 'vintage'? I mean, I've got a hot pink streak on each side of my head and I have no clue how many 'pin up dolls' have told me that I've 'soiled the pin up name'.

Seriously?

How many of you believe that to be a true pin up model or aficionado you have to have a hair colour found in nature?

You're asking 2 different questions here.

To answer the first one, I say yes, I think that in order to be truly "vintage" looking, you should have natural color hair.

However, the second question, regarding being a pin up, the answer is no. There are so many different types of pin up, and so many of them allow for creativity, that there is no reason you can't be a pin up with crazy color hair. In fact, all you have to do is look around to see that some of the most successful pin ups have colored hair. Check out this thread, http://www.pinupdollhouse.com/forum/topics/crazy-alt-hair-colors. It's a tiny taste of some of the models in this industry who have amazing alt hair.

You haven't soiled the pin up name, but i agree with Roxy, if you want to look very "vintage" then natural hair works better, but a pin up can do whatever she wants with her hair. I think that as long as you create the feel and vibe of a pin up and appreciate where it comes from then you can be a true pin up model!

I agree with both of the replies you have received.

To look like a "real" or authentic 40/50's girl, you need a natural hair color.
Just like you'd never see a period 50's movie with a girl with let's say pink hair.

But just to be a pinup/rockabilly girl, you can do whatever you like!
Models and pinupgirls play around with color and hairstyles all the time and yes there are many types of styles.

Absolutely. I completely understand that to look truly vintage you should be truly vintage. That's like putting a Ford body on a Chevy car and calling it a Ford. It's just not going to work.
