Check out the other threads in this forum as well as the performing forum. Lots of people are in the same situation as you and have the same questions! First of all, you're on the right track already be being HERE on PL. You can join the casting calls group to get updates whenever a photographer is planning a shoot, and look for photographers in your area. The forum is another great resource for information, so kudos to you for using it! (just be sure to browse through existing threads or run a forum search before posting to see if someone has already asked your question before ;) ). Here's someone else with you same question, you may find the answers there to be helpful to you: http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/modeling-1 If you still have specific questions, feel free to ask, there's SO many skilled and talented girls here that are willing to help!

Good luck and happy modeling!
I am pretty new to pinup modeling myself. PL has been awesome in helping me find photographers in my area and just connect with other like minded individuals! I learn something new everyday! Good luck and can't wait to get to know you better!
Book a shoot with me ;)

Best advice I got! hehe

As Raquelle said, look though the forum. Tons of great info already here. You can also use the advanced search to find photogs in your area. Good luck!
the only advice I can give you, as I'm pretty new myself, try to find your inner pin up girl, sounds lame, but I think that you need to find the style you feel more like you, it doesn't mean that you are going to be a one trick pony, because once you've find out your own style you will be comfortable enough to do another characters adding your personal touch.
luck!
I am not a professional at this but I will say that when I started doing pinup modeling I studied old cinema. The classic stars of the 30s and 40s had the right moves. I know it sounds silly but the reality is that they moved with elegance, and a zesty dose of spice. They knew how to place themselves correctly and in the most flattering of ways. These aren't things we pay attention to today and so aside from their gorgeous clothes and hairstyles this is what sets us so far apart from the Rita Hayworths and Veronica Lakes. There is one girl these days that can work it and that is Dita Von Teese, watch her in action. Also study the pinup art of Gil Elvgren he truly gave rise to the innocent cheesecake that defines true pinup !

Hope this helps,

Audrey
Be careful who you shoot with and know what your photos are being used for because photographers never work for free and we shouldn't either.. and practice practice practice in the mirror and in bed.( i practice faces and poses with my hubby when we are about to get it on hahaa)... make faces at your self in the mirror and study other pin up work that you wish to emulate!... And from personal experiance and experiance of friends.. be reasonable with your price that you charge and nvr go alone to a shoot unless you know the photog.. if a photog says they don't want you to bring an escort tell them they obviously dont want to shoot you that bad.. join modelmayhem.com

Saying that "photographers never work for free and we shouldn't either", it not true at all. Photogs and models do TFP work all the time. And in the beginning when you are just starting out, there is a very good chance that no one will agree to pay you. This is especially true for models. Until you have a good portfolio and some experience, you should not expect to get payed. There are a lot of good, successful models in this field who still do TFP work, depending on who they are modeling for. If you go into this field thinking that you should get paid right off the bat, some will see it as a bad attitude, and you may piss off a lot of people.
