I have been boggled forever on how to do this certain hairstyle (see pictures attached) i've seen very rarely done. I'm usually pretty good at picking up on instructions or figuring out how to create a look myself, but this one has me befuddled. I don't even know what it would be called or if it has a name... Please if any of you coiffure wizards could lend some tips and direction i would greatly appreciate it!<3

I studied the photos intently because I noticed something I used to do with my hair.

Let it be noted :

IM Not a Hair Stylist- period -

BUT, hear me out-

I love bettie page bangs but hate the idea of being stuck to
any hair do or hair color longer then a month. period.

I simply hate being typical same old boring.

So I discovered that if I keep my hair long I can " Fake " short hair.

I would buy a little bit of fake hair, rat it up and wrap it in an "invisible" hair net.

I would roll my hair up from the bottom and pin it at the base of my head.

rolling it tightly giveing it little slack to shape I made the illusion of short hair.

For the Dita look I dont doubt its nearly the same idea or close to it.

Like I said Im no expert, I learned a little stuff from my grandma but she passed in 95.

Hope it helped a little!

Mad Crazy Love,

Dulce
ive seen a lady do a roll like that in the back of her hair, she used a rope like thing and twisted it and pinned it, she called it a gibson roll, im sure you could do that in the front
This type of style is called "Bumper Bangs". Most likely Dita has a rat hidden inside. She also does not have bangs and has pulled her hair forward and rolled them. In her ads for MAC Makeup this is even more noticable. You can acheive this look by several ways, depending on your hair type and bang length. Some ladies use rats, some just require back brushing.
This is all really good info! thank you so much for the replies!
I'm not sure if you use Livejournal but there is a community there called vintagehair there are some great ladies and tutorials there that give a lot of good advice. and JUST ONCE i'd kill to have my hair like that, preferably on a day where I'm being seen a lot haha
ok take the front section of the hair and if your hair is full enough tease it all up and then smooth it towards the face like you going to be putting bangs...the hair wil be rolled under and pinned and it looks like full bangs, you can also( if you cant get the hang of teasing your hair) take an old pair of nylons preferbly sheer and stuff it with fake hair that is the same color as yours (they sell it at sally for about 5 dollars for a big bag of hair) make it as long and big as you wish, taking note that the longer it is and the bigger it is .this will determine how it will look on your head.tie off a knott when your done stuffing it. then take that same section that you began with and pull it back, place your "rat" on top and pin. then take the hair and roll it around the "rat" and use a light spray first so that you can comb and make hair smooth first and then use a heavy spray at the end so it will be in place.remember to always place pins so that they are hidden.this will take some practice...dont get frustrated isfat first you do not succeed. just try again, practice makes perfect! the sides are easy they are just swept up and pinned.

i really hope this helps you...ne other questions just send me a email!
Oh cool, ok! haha yeah i hear you on that!
