Does It Pay To Play It Straight?

I love my curly hair. Let me just get that out of the way. :) Now, I understand the reasons for straightening your hair. It looks soft, smooth and luscious. The bone-straight strands hang gracefully down your back and swing with each head movement. Men adore this type of hair these days. However, that is NOT the only type of hair that's attractive. Curly hair has long been desired by women and men ;) alike. Look at the retro pinups and even regular retro women. They ALL had curls. Granted, they were set with rollers, but still! Curls were worshiped and seen as necessary to complete a look. When, for the love of curls, did that mindset go out the window? I don't agree with trying to change your hair texture every day. Every so often it's a nice change, but I think we need to embrace our hair! So whether you are curly, straight, wavy, or bald, EMBRACE IT! <3 <3

It's not that these women desperately WANTED curly hair. Hair with a curl was necessary to the hairstyle of the times. You couldn't really do rolls with straight hair. It didn't look put together. But even women with curly hair in the 40's 50's and 60's had to straighten their hair somewhat in order for it to curl the way they wanted. You either embrace your straight/curly hair and don't have the style that you want, or you make your hair do what you want it to do. It's as simple as that. I love my straight hair, and wear it straight most days...with a bit of hair flair. But when I'm trying to do a period style hair, I curl it.

Here here!!! I LOVE my curls now, but I didn't always. When I was in school (cosmetology school) I had my hair chemically straightend.... and HATED IT!!!!! I never appreciated my curls untill they were gone. I say learn to love what cha got, it's fun to experiment with other textures / colors / styles / whatever, but you were born with what you were born with for a reason, most of the time. ;-)

I hear ya! I used to hate my curly hair! I love it now, and actually rock it more often than straightened hair. But I used to think that they were a pain!
