Every town has a place that is known to be haunted, *ahem*, "haunted".
Even when I lived in a podunk town in Texas, we had "Goat Man's Road", although I suffice it to say that it needs no further explanation, lol.
I'm now located in Liberty, Missouri, and we have an old mansion which used to belong to the secret society/fraternal group otherwise known as the International Order of Odd Fellows. There has always been rumor and speculation of paranormal activity within the place. I'm not one to believe in the ghostly sorts, but I had a recent venture on the property and decided to look further into it. I found some rather interesting stuff, for anyone that would like to read what I blogged about. CLICKY

So now I'm curious as to what other supposedly haunted places are out there. I watch the paranormal investigation shows on Discovery channel, but they only ever seem to run around Halloween. I can't wait till then, so share your haunted locations, personal experiences, and photos if you got'em... pweeeese.

All the people in my family have had freakily personal experiences when my great grandad died. My dad frequently smells him, but he doesn't get scared he's just comforted that his grandad is still around. A little more weird though was when we could all smell him in our house. He had never been to our new house, and we had just had work done. It was like he was just seeing what we had done. Plus, my cousin (on the other side of the family and who was born after the death) could smell him, even though the house had only had women in it for a good couple of days whilst my dad was away.

Some of the orchards in our town are said to be haunted. There was a guy in the 70's who would hire illegal immigrants to pick peaches, then he would murder them and bury their bodies in the orchards. My friend lives across from one of those orchards and her neighbor's house is haunted. I've had personal experiences when my stepdad and grampa died. Nothing major tho.
I have goose bumps, when things like that happen with children it twice as chilling!

My Aunt is a clairvoyant here in Everett Washington. I don't talk to her much anymore but we were really close when I was younger. (she's amazing at it too! talk about being creeped out!)

When I was 12 she told me a story about me.

As she tells it (and she's not one for exaggerating) :

I was 5. My aunt was staying with us for a visit. It was late, about 1am. My mom and step dad woke to the sound of me calling for them. They both came, along with my aunt, and I was sitting up in my bed, looking mighty pissy, with my hands over my ears. "I can't sleep when they're dancing! Make them stop dancing!" I cried! (more angry than scared, my aunt says) "who's dancing?" they asked confused. "the Indians! Make them be quiet!" I said. Both my mom and step dad, who are very much into Indian History and Traditions, initially passed it off. "go to sleep honey" they said, kissed me goodnight, and off they went, leaving the door cracked, and the hall light on.

The next day, my mom and aunt were in the kitchen watching my sisters and I play in the backyard. My aunt noticed that I looked like I was talking to someone while playing with the play dough. I kept looking up, and shaking my head in the affirmative. After about 5 minutes, I ran inside and declared: "Mommy, the Indians say we have to leave. We're not supposed to be here, and they're not happy." Odd thing for a 5 year old to say, especially since I didn't know much about Indians or anything at that age. My aunts interest was piqued, and she began doing some research on the property.

The next day, my mom and aunt are sitting in the living room, and they hear me speaking with someone, and I sounded scared. They looked out back, and I'm standing damn near at attention, holding back tears, and shaking my head wildly "yes". As my mom and aunt are standing there, confused, I run to my mom like someone lit a fire under my ass and frantically tell her in a very stern tone "Mom...the CHIEF says we have to leave. N O W."

Now my mom is freaking out. My aunt decides to go to a local Indian reservation to further her research on the area of San Diego we were living in. She ended up on a Diegueños Reservation looking at a reproduction map of Sacred Diegueños Indian Sites. Our housing complex was located on the outskirts of a Diegueños ritual site. Not burial ground, but where they did their (you guessed it) Ritual Dancing and Ceremonies. This was very close to where their main tribe camp was located. My aunt told my mom, and we moved the next day. (my mom doesn't mess around with that!)

It's also interesting to note, that I had a Chow Chow that I got when I was a year old. At a year old, I called him Diego (mighty close to Diegueños huh?). My mom thought it was because I heard "San Diego" all the time. She asked me once why I named him that (when I was 2) she said my reply was: "Because the Indians said it was a noble name". ((insert creepy music)) My mom said she just let it go, until this whole thing when I was 5 happened.
That's because Children are less likely to lie, because they don't realize that it's something out of the "norm". Trust me, it still gives me goosebumps too. The reason my aunt and I don't really talk much anymore, is because when I turned 15, she wanted to train me. She said that I had a gift. (a gift I never wanted I would say!) My mom wasn't down with it. My aunt felt so passionately about it that she and my mom still don't talk. My aunt and I still chat through email every once in a while though. And she asks me EVERY time if I want to come and learn from her.

No thanks. I'd rather not communicate with spirits, thankyouverymuch.

My daughter and my oldest son are showing signs of clairvoyance. I'll catch my daughter talking to people. Full conversations. And she doesn't claim to have an imaginary friend. Usually all kids will say "but I didn't take that toy out! it wasn't me! it was my sister!"....the other day, my oldest son says, "I wasn't playing with the Legos! It was Benjamin! They didn't have Legos when he died!"........we don't know anyone named Benjamin......great.

My grama and I have both experienced phantom smells of my grampa at different times. He had a distinct smell, which is hard to describe, but it was kind of a mix of tractor grease and Old Spice! One day shortly after he died, me, my grama and her sister were sitting in the living room. We had been there for quite some time and all of a sudden, I smelled his smell. A few seconds later, it was gone. I didn't say anything at the time, but my grama later told me that she will wake up in the middle of the night and smell something, but she can't place it. My nieces said they saw him in the corner of their room the night he died. I have dreams about him where I'm having a conversation with him and it's no big deal! I've heard that means that person is communicating with you from the other side. I believe that's possible. But it's also possible I'm just dreaming about him!

mmmm.. well my house has a ghostie, so does my friends...

I've seen a person in my house that wasn't really there, I've been phisically touched grabbed and startled awake.. he/she/it takes things and hides them, and is generally just a mischievous jerk..

I feel weird admitting this. but I sometimes "feel" things... it's hard to explain. I'm not saying oooh, I'm psychic! I just feel stuff...

there's supposed to be a female native spirit that "haunts" this rural road. and the Mothman has been spotted in Sacramento.

oh and bigfoot apparently..
Well they say we're all a little bit psycic. Science might say it's just temperature and humidity fluctuations, but, personally, I think it's a little bit more. I've certainly felt things going into a place and then had them confirmed. It's like extreme emotions just linger in the walls.

the average person only uses 7% of their brain. Who knows what the other 93% can do? maybe clairvoyants and psychics are using just a bit more of our desperately underutilized brain!

My mom and I used to work with this guy that was "psychic" or "clavoyant" and he would tell both of us that we had a very strong energy about us that we needed to develop. Its weird like you guys were saying too, sometimes I can sense things. Once a friend and her boyfriend were meeting me after work when I worked at the gym. They were going to go to a movie and they saw me working that night. I walked outside and looked down the parking lot at these 3 teenage boys and I saw and for a moment I saw as they approached they grabbed my friends backside!! I turned and had my back towards them and once they passed I yelled,"dont touch girls like that you ass its disrespecful!" and my friend swung around and looked at me and asked how did you know? Couldn't explain it. I saw it before he actually did it! Once too in highschool I was getting off the bus and I had a feeling mom or dad had come home from work early. I had a feeling someone was in the house. When I came home and opened the front door I saw a man running out the backdoor with my stereo :-(
Its weird how things like that work out.
This website shows everything in Ohio that is supposedly haunted. http://www.forgottenoh.com/page1.html
I can confirm some not all. I would love to confirm all of them.
These are in my county. http://www.forgottenoh.com/Counties/Warren/warrencounty.html
If you click on that and look at Peters Cartridge Co. it's a great building that use to have a haunted house in it. My husband use to help with the haunted house when he was younger and he had experiences there as well.
Our house that we live in now is currently haunted by a little boy named Adam. My oldest son talks to him often but my other 4 children talk to him as well. He just talks to Jesse more because he has such a young curious mind. Adam use to leave water puddles in the hallways, mess with the lights, doors, you name it. I went into one of those energy type store that cells herbs, stones, etc. and the person behind the counter stopped what he was doing and said I need to speak with you.
He told me there is a little boy in my house. My smart ass remark was yeah 4 of them. But he said that he wasnt from this world and he passed away in the river behind us. He also said that he looks to me like a mother since he is confused and doesn't know what to do. Sad really for the lil man since he is around Jesse age.
Oh I hate sad stories like that! Poor kid!

My house just has a presence; we've seen shadows, the lights flicker, stuff turns on and the water sometimes runs, but we've never seen a full spectre. I used to absolute hate having him around, but now I either leave him in the room and just get on with it, or tell him to leave me alone. I can't see him, but I can definitely feel him in the way of temperature changes - I put my hand through where I thought he was once and it was really hot! Warm temperatures supposedly mean that the spirit is not evil and the like, so that comforted me. To be honest, I think he's just kinda lost and misses company. I know my house didn't have any young men living in it officially from when it was built in 1929 until the 1950's when the original owner moved out, but I think he definitely has a connection to the house because he isn't the sort to go through walls and into the garden.

it's really amazing that so many have had paranormal experiences! really interesting reads!
How many of us are scared of the paranormal? Were you initially scared and then when they gained a name or a bit of a story you were almost comfortable around them?

Does anyone go 'ghost hunting'? I really want to start!
