"We Are The New Vintage"

We also have this tradition between the dinner and second dessert where we shake out food down in out stomachs to make room for more. Its an interesting scene when the family is just standing in the kitchen shaking our bodies.
Your 3 potatoes remind me of the first Thanksgiving episode of Friends. Mashed with lumps, whipped with peas and onions and tots!!
I also would drag my friends over to my parents, and many years we would get together the day before or after and I'd make alllll the sides, and someone else would cook a Turkey... and we'd have an awesome meal! Yummm!
The obligatory Three Kinds Of Potatoes at my house (and I also love that Friends episode, even though they totally stole that from me) are roasted-with-bird, mashed, and some form of sweet potato. My mom prefers canned yams topped with marshmallows, I prefer them whipped with some goat cheese and a little truffle oil. In which case I would skip the mashers, because, with the stuffing, that's way too much mushy food. But I'll probably make a dish of potatoes-roasted-but-NOT-with-the-turkey for the vegetarians (who, by the way, don't eat marshmallows in case anyone was unaware that they contain gelatin. A sad lesson I learned when I went veggie.)
