Help Planning My First Burlesque Performance

I'm taking a burlesque class and I just found out that in addition to a group number, we are also going to be doing individual performances at the graduation show. My response.... EEK! I'm not ready to be kicked out of the nest yet.

The show has a sci fi theme so I was wondering if anyone had ideas about music, costuming, etc. ANY input would be appreciated greatly. I'm scared to death! (Is that normal, btw?)

Tessa Le Taunt has a great youtube tutorial about how to save on burlesque costuming! Crafty girl with some great ideas! And I would suggest lots of silver sequins and crystals! You know how silver is classic sci fi. Also, where are you guys having your performance? I'm in Monterey and would venture out to see a Burlesque show!

Good luck! We all know that we never feel 'ready' the first time we do anything - just try to own it and everyone will enjoy you. I'm a trekie but have always loved art by the likes of Frank Frazetta - you might find som costume inspiration there.

When and where is the show? I'm guessing a Monday at the uptown right? Ad it to the events section and lets try to get some PLers out there for support!!

We're having one in SF proper and one in Oakland. I'll get back to you on the dates. It's in September.
