I know that diet and exercise are a vital part of the pinup routine, especially if I want to fit into the lovely smaller size vintage dresses. However, I'm having a really hard time getting motivated to work out.

I just started making small diet changes, like eating chicken breasts for dinner and snacking on veggie strips instead of chips and other junk food. But I just can't seem to get get my butt up and exercising. I want to join 24-hr fitness but I don't have the money right now. Does anyone have any ideas that might help me get started?

I used to have a hard time with getting to the gym too. For years I wanted to, but just never quite made it through the doors. Then one day, I just decided I was gonna go. I just felt like it was time. It took a bit, about a month of going off and on, but before I knew it, I was a gym girl! I was going 5-6 days a week, and felt amazing. I think that when it's your time, you'll know it. It'll just feel right. You'll get there, just take it one step at a time.
If you don't have a ton of motivation, just grab your ipod (and a doggy helps as well) and WALK! I've been walking everywhere and have lost 5 lbs in the last week. Good luck sweetie! You're on the right path!
Thanks dolls! I think I just need a load of outside encouragement!
I had a hard time getting started too. I just started out basic making diet changes and walking. Then once that became habit, I wanted more. I just noticed how good I felt on the days that I walked. The rest is history, I have lost over 15lbs in the last year and rowing a 5k is a moderate workout for me now. Just start where you feel comfortable and build from there! You can do it girl!
I HATE the gym!!! My cousin owns a gym 3 miles from my house & I have a (virtually free) membership, and I still don't go. So, I know that lack of motivation. The best thing for fat burning (according to my cousin) is daily cardio & light weight/resistance training. All of that can be done at home.
Walking is a wonderful way not only to exercise, but it get you out of the house & breaks the non-motivated cycle. My sister has those Reebok butt shaping shoes & she loves them... she says it cuts her run by 30 min.
Workout DVDs are good too if you commit to using them. I have a friend who swears by the "Insanity Workout" series. I personally am a dancer, so I exercise by using dance DVDs (ballet, tap, swing... you name it!). I love them because they're fun, come in every skill level, and I feel like I'm learning something for all that sweat and sore muscles! Dance tones a woman's body in all the right places & teaches outstanding posture which is slimming, too.
Either way, you'll be motivated when the weight starts coming off. Until then, maybe get a workout buddy to work with you, keep you accountable, and keep you motivated. You're off to a really good start. Keep it up... vintage fashion is a fabulous motivator
Hey Cherry, have you ever thought of doing an activity that involves some sort of exercise or any movement. For example, I love to swim. Most people consider that a leisure activity but it's quite demanding on the body and can get you in shape. The most important thing is that I am passionate about it. Is there anything you are passionate about that involves activity? If so, then find the time to fit it into your life. You won't flake on it because it'll give you soo much back mentally and physically. If none of that works, sex-ercise works wonders too!!! LOL. good luck!! - XOXO Aubrey

Want to know the true pin up work out? SWIM! Swimming, is a complete full body workout, yet low impact. By swimming laps you will become defined and your waist will shrink, without getting too toned looking. When I first started swim as my daily workout I thought...Its just swimming it should be easy....wrong! It will whip your booty. Try starting out slow. Swim 2 laps and then tread the water for 5 mins. Repeat for 30 mins.

Its an excerise that your friends will join and sounds good in the summer too

Honey I have to say my doggy did NOT help! Her Royal Fatness is sooo lazy I leashed her up for a jog, about half way through she sat her spoiled self down and didnt budge! lol! I did get a work out carrying her home!
Cherry I totally understand! I just got Jilian Micheals 30 shred dvd. Its a 20 min a day thing and the way its broken up its not too boring. If you live fairly close to where you work, shop ect. riding a bike is a nice break from driving and it burns calories. Since its summer swimming is also a terrific way to burn calories very low impact with amazing results!

I agree with Roxy Tart. Sometimes you just need to feel the time is right. But for some motivation, I find that having a daily plan laid out. I use a work-out plan on exercisetv.tv. The have a million videos one there! I use the 28 day turn around plan.
Make it part of your daily routine. Instead of joining a gym, I walk the 3 miles to work and back each day, it has made SUCH a difference. My boyfriend and I are also competing to see who can get the best abs haha, so that's helping to motivate me! Good luck!!!
Oh my! Dexter (my pit) would pull me uphill running if he could, but he's a good doggy and walks nicely beside me. Sounds like your doggy needs some exercise! hehe. Swimming is also fantastic (I used to surf) and riding a bike is not only FUN, but tones your body nicely. My husband bike commutes daily and he swears by it. (he also LOVES it because it's fun to do!)

i'm surprised no one has suggested learning to swing dance.

i've had many clients use my pin-up portrait sessions as a reward to reaching thier goals. maybe if there were a payoff for you it would be easier?

good luck!
