Aahhhh summertime. It's officially here (as of June 21). Swimming pools, beaches, barbecues... what's your favorite part of summer??

In Kentucky it meant a lot of grilling out, lemonade, and my fave - fresh corn & tomatoes. Mmmmm. It was always a time of nice get-togethers and just hanging outside. Now here in San Francisco summer is the time for car shows, meeting new people, going to the park with Anthony, and praying it gets warm enough every now and then to go to the beach. Much different here than back home in KY, but just as awesome! I think summertime always leaves good memories.

being able to wear pretty summer dresses!! - i look forward to it all year for that one reason!
I loooove the summertime. I don't even know how I survive in the winter, I hate it so much. Practically everything I enjoy doing occurs in the summer...
I love roller coasters and water slides, and have the advantage of having a decent water AND amusement park right next to each other, and only a matter of minutes away. =0]
I also frequent the local fairs, festivals, and carnivals. I'm in Kansas City, so BBQ plays a really big role in the shindigs put on here, which is awesome, of course. I love rummaging through craft tents and purchasing locally made goods.
Car shows are my vice, although we haven't had many major ones this year. =0[
Summertime is the best time to travel, as well. The year before last, I visited friends in Texas. Last year, I went to Branson, MO, which was actually a lot cooler than I'd imagined. This year, I'll be in Chicago with the BF and his family at the end of July. I've never been, so I'm really stoked to go.
Oh, and can't forget about the zoo!
And, uh... summertime is also the best for tattoo work. You can wear a tank top and not have to worry about a jacket getting stuck to your new ink. Jusssst sayin'. ;0D
drinking an overpriced mai-tai in an overcrowded casino is pretty fun here in Vegas... yes, I am serious. swimming is out as I hate being in the sun when its well over a 100 degrees. I guess the longer days are pretty enjoyable.

Picnic on the beach! Of course cold beer is a must in this situation!
my favorite thing about summer? well, it used to be the warmth and heat, but not so much anymore. it has gotten ridiculously hot here these past couple of years. this week has been nothing but 110-112, not to mention, it is incredibly humid here, so high temperatures plus humidity = no walk in the park (literally, you can't even go to the park without having a heat stroke here)
Events, theme parks, and summer clothes!!

And my most favorite part of summer, my son was born on June 21st. Best start to summer in the world!
I grew up in Florida and my childhood summers were spent swiming in the lake. On weekends we went to Daytona Beach where I learned to surf when I was 12. Home made ice cream, watermellon, and BBQ still take me right back to those wonderful childhood summers. I love summer!
Car shows, high waisted shorts, Sunday Funday, cold PBR's and fresh margaritas. AAAAHHHHH summer!
Lots of people complain about it but I kinda like those Saturdays when it's 98 degrees and 90% humidity and I can go outside and work on whatever needs to be done. Sweat like hell. Come inside, take a shower, and feel like I did something worthwhile.

The beach, fresh tomatoes, taking the kids to the park in the morning.

I've gotten to where I don't like the cold anymore. I must be getting old. One day I'll be like that old guy in The Big Sleep.
I am definitely a winter person, but the only thing I enjoy about summer is going to the beach and FINALLY getting my natural tan back!
So many things I love about summer!

1. Long days. I hate when it gets dark early! I love that it's still light at 8pm!!

2. Warm weather. I hate the cold! I like not having to worry about layers, dragging along coats and sweaters because it was cold earlier in the morning, nice midday, and will be cold at night. I love the hot days wear you can wear a dress or tank top from sunrise into the night hours!!

3. 4th of July. One of my favorite holidays! Alameda has the 2nd largest Independence Day parade in the country, my family from around the Bay Area all comes in to watch together, we have a BBQ, and best of all - FIREWORKS! There's nothing I love quite the same way that I love watching a good fireworks show

4. Conventions. I am a huge nerd, and spring/summer is when all the big conventions are! E3, Fanime, Anime Expo, San Diego ComicCon (not to mention all the conventions in other parts of the country)... I can't always afford to attend, but I love going, dressing up in nerdy cosplays, or at least hearing all the new news from them while at home pressing refresh on all my web site and forums XD

5. My birthday. July 22nd is my birthday, and I am definitely not one of those people that's embarrassed by birthdays and would rather not celebrate them. Everyone deserves ONE day where they get everything they want! I like getting taken out for drinks/dinner/karaoke, getting gifts, and being allowed to do damn near whatever I feel like doing! Not to mention my annual birthday gift from my boyfriend is a new tattoo, WOO!

6. Nostalgia. Summer was always the time of theater for me in high school and college. I was a theater nerd, and the musicals were always done towards the end of the school year... Long hours of tech rehearsal after school every day, walking down to the Alameda beach during our break from rehearsal... and somehow the 2 weeks of tech rehearsal always coincided with a heat wave. It was marvelous. And then after school was out for summer and during the summer months of college, I'd participate in a summer musical production at the local community theater. Aside from theater, of course there were always those lazy summer days, staying PJ's all day, selling lemonade, going to the movies midday to escape the heat... Ah, memories!

Ah, there is SO much to love about summer!
