Here at PinupLifestyle, we're all about some serious girl power. I just stumbled onto some awesome illustrations of classic superheroines and thought about how much I just love the idea of female heroes! Kids of this generation need some strong beautiful women to look up to like we did. I feel like aren't many left... Sad. But then again, maybe I'm out of touch. I remember Powerpuff Girls, are there any other newer supergirls??

Let's see some of your favorite superheroines and awesome illustrations of them!

Nice..thanks for the link. I have a demon in my comics that kinda looks like that but I swear I got the idea elsewhere, years ago. It's actually inspired by a painting I saw of Bettie Paige dressed as a devil. : P You're very lucky that you get to go to San Diego Comic Con..I've been to Fan Expo in Toronto but it's not as good. I'll have to make the trip there sometime..It's like geek mecca. lol

I'm a comic book gal, born and raised!
I've been going to the San Diego Comic Con International since i was 6.

Grew up on x-men and spider man, batman and superman and all that followed. Not to mention waking up at 5 to watch GOOD Saturday morning cartoons.
The cartoons now are a bit abstract, and not as i remember them. (i have a 10 year old sister and a 4 year old brother).
I was huge into anime when i was growing up so i was up early (and late sometimes) to watch Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, Pokemon, Digimon, Gundam Wing and the like.
But my heart belongs to comics!
(I love me my Harley Quinn!)
Ive got some friends who own and are the creative minds beind Devil's Due Publishing out of Chitown and they have some pretty awesome comics out right now. HACK/SLASH, Mercy Sparkx and a new online comic called Merch Girl. All are women based comics that have a lot of ass kicking and good times
http://www.devilsdue.net/

HACK/SLASH is about a gal who survives her own slasher story and tracks down and kills the slashers! lots of gore and good times!

this is mercy sparkx-she's a demon who's sent to track down rogue angels
Ok, I confess I'm new to the world of comics but I am utterly intrigued. I love the serious feminine empowerment angle and let's face it, who doesn't love a hot woman who can kick some ass?

Any starting ideas for a late blooming nerd?

I used to LOVE Wonder Woman and She-Ra when I was a kid.
Wonder Woman is still my fave. I am a HUGE geek as everyone who knows me knows that lol--I costume as WW for several charity groups, we do hospital visits, etc. for children. My favorite versions of her are done by Adam Hughes, Terry Dodson and George Perez. You can't beat DC for strong females, Marvel has many as well but to me WW will always reign supreme

I know, its awful, almost worse is that they took away her entire backstory, everything that MADE HER who she is, they've turned her into a generic super hero without her Amazon heritage, her background and connection with her strong role model in her mother...the good news is there is such a current backlash I don't think they will stick with this line very long.

Making this more "pinup" related, if you watch DC's animated Golden Age series, its wonderful. Explains how they wanted to show WW and Supes the first time together, with her being the taller of the two and why--its wonderful.
