Hey everyone,
I will be painting my 55' Chevy Pickup this weekend and need a little advice on paint options. As you can see the 55' is currently orange and yellow, which is well, different, but not my favorite two-tone color scheme by any means.

I was thinking about going with a flat black body with a psychobilly green hood/accents. I played around with Photoshop and came up with the picture below to give an idea of the final look. Let me know what you all think. I am up for any suggestion. Thanks so much!

i like the idea of neon green and flat black, but i'm not so sure about the way you have it displayed in the above pic....hmmmm..... is it going to be a home project or is it going to be a shop job?
Thanks so much for you opinion Mrs. Killer!
What do you like/dislike about the above pic? Would you suggest different lines?
We have access to a paint shop, so it will be done by a friend.

are you totally set on making it two-tone? if you are, then instead of the way you have it now, bring it down a bit so that it can go throughout the body line, that way it doesn't look cut off like it does how you have it now, and how it ends at the cab. i would use the hood line where the hood meets the grill as a guideline when going around the entire body to give it a more uniform look. personally, just my opinion, i don't really like this type of two-tone on this type of truck....i take that back, i have seen ONE a while back that i liked and it was done the way i explained above.

now if it were MY truck, lol. i would do either a glossy black or a flat black throughout the entire body and do some ghosting detail. i'm pretty sure that you can find neon green tinted pearl pigments for the ghosting effect, it would just be a nice subtle touch. you could do ghost flames on the hood and sides that fade out into the doors, and maybe you could add some type of crest on the hood in the core of the flames, like maybe a wicked skull with a mo-hawk with the flames coming out of its mouth or something, that's just an example. as far as the bumper and the wheels go, let me show you a picture really quick. this is one of my husbands old rides, he built this truck with his bare hands and did everything himself:

but as i was saying, as far as the bumper, rims, and headlight bezels go, i would chrome them out, but on the rims i would do what my husband did in the above pic, you see how he has it chromed out, but with a color accent to match the truck, well maybe you could do the exact same thing, but instead of the red that you see on his, you could do a neon green or maybe a nice flat black.

i know this has nothing to do with paint, but i would shave the handles off of that thing and just add an outside button between the cab and the bed of the truck and i would add some mirrors like the ones you see in my pic OR you could add peep mirrors instead. i would definitely chrome the grill out too. i'm just sayin', that's if it were me and mine.

hope all of this made sense, haha! i not the best when trying to put things like this into written word.

Black with green .... can't go wrong !!!! my fav colors too....
Total change of plans... I have decided to go with two-tone orange and white. Yes, like orange cream soda. I will be putting this logo on the side of my truck Chuck. He will become my orange cream soda delivery truck. Brinin' you the sweetest cream in town!

Aw. I was really digging the black and green. That would have looked so sick with pin-striping along the sides and tailgate. =0}
Either way, please post photos of the finished product. Such a darling truck like that will be amazing no matter how you paint it.
nice, keep us updated

How did the paint turn out? Orange and white would look great. My first build was a 57 Chevy pickup but that was 16 years and 29 cars ago. Keep us updated. Great truck.
