I have been thinking about trying out a mineral foundation. I have heard that they are much better for your skin. I have never used one before so I am not sure what to get, there are so many different kinds out now. So I was wondering if any of you ladies were using it, what brand you would recommend, and how you like it?

I use an Avon mineral powder. I love it and use it everyday whether its just for light coverage or to set my make up. But it's quite costly at £10 and you do need a brush (a kabuki or a powder brush will do), but it's lasted me ages and I won't need another for a good time.
I used to use Bare Escentuals and loved it!
They have a great deal at Ulta on a 'Get Started' kit. It includes brushes, foundation, blush, bronzer, and I think an eyeshadow or two. $174 value for only $60! DEF worth it! Buying separately, it'd cost you around $40 for just the brush!
I use Bare Essentials powder foundation and I really like it. The only thing is that I would have to powder myself once more during the day, but not heavily, and it would last all day and night. I love it especially when I'm stressing and I break out because it doesn't have any wax and it's not heavy. When I want something thicker I put on a fluid foundation and use the Bare Essentials to set it.
I use the same stuff, and got it at the same place!

Ulta also has it's OWN line of Mineral makeup that is VERY nice, and affordable!!

I use Lancome's mineral powder and it's the only one so far that I love. I tried the Bare Minerals, but I like very matte skin, and it has a lot of mica in it, so it makes you shiny. The Lancome is nice and matte. You can always go to the make up counters and ask for samples. They will give you free ones so you can give it a try. Also, have them do your makeup for you with the mineral stuff, then walk around for a while, see how you like it.
I used Bare Essentials for a while and it started to make my skin break-out more (though I have sensitive skin)! Compared to using Maybelline's and Cover Girl's Trublend. I really like the look of Maybelline's powder and Bare Essentials! Both are exquisite!
I use I.D. Minerals which I bought from Sephora when I was in the states last year but I have to tell you I am not that impressed. I find that it doesn't provide the coverage that I like - it's OK for everday use but I like a fairly heavy coverage for night time.

One thing I do find is that it makes an awesome powder over my liquid foundation, it seems to make my make-up last a lot longer than the normal face powders.

In my opinion it is way too light for a proper pin-up look if that is what you are after.
Thanks so much, you ladies are super!
I use Palladio's Pressed Herbal Powder. not necessarily mineral, but herbal. I love it. I've also used Bare Essentials, but I couldn't afford it. so now I have TONS of the wrong color, AND the mineral veil unopened. I just felt like it didn't cover enough.
Mineral foundation is buildable. If you want more coverage, just add more. Though you run the risk of looking "cakey" if you add too much. Coastalscents.com has a GREAT mineral foundation line that gives a bit better coverage (IMO). They have a range of colors that can fit any skin tone, and they're AFFORDABLE! (I buy their eyeshadow pallets, they're fantastic!!)

Check out their brushes too, great quality for a VERY low price!

This brush is my absolute FAVORITE for eyeliner...it gets in between each and every lash, and the angle keeps it from messing up my mascara or other eye makeup. :D
I LOVE Costal Scents. A Girl at my school used the eyeshadow pallets, and they always looked great.. I should get one. HAHA!

when I wore my bare minerals, it always looked cakey. possibly because when I started wearing it, I was a teeney bit darker.. now, I don't get sun. lol

You know what I find works awesome? Using some of that Skin tone matching foundation (the kind that starts out white and then adjusts to your skin) and then setting it with mineral powder.

Then using a dusting of Revlon Photo Ready powder on top of that. :)

Everyone should be using face Primer too!!
