Pin-up models hair length: Short or Long. What do you think?

Ok we just got a few emails from fans of the magazine and they told us that short hair models are not truley pin-up models just want a bes. So is this true. Does a pin-up model have to have long hair? What do you think and why long hair. Does color of the hair matter also? Please tell us why and what you think.

thats crazy.... thats one of the last things that matter.... hair, does it look pinup? if yes, the length doesnt matter... if it is just short hair unstyled, maybe worth talking about.... YOUR FINE, and in the clear! we support!
I definitely think that it doens't matter ,long or short can both work for pinups. I think what matters is how short or how long, and the style. I think there is such a thing as too short as well as too long....then again, this is just my opinion. I am no expert. And I officially sound like I'm rambling...
That's silly... tons of pinup portraits show short hair! I even see tutorials on how to FAKE short hair if you have long hair, so you can recreate iconic 30's, 40's, AND 50's short styles! Utterly ridiculous.

I prefer mid-length, and maybe some folks prefer long and others short, but you can't say short-hair girls aren't truly pinup... because, as the saying goes "It's not size that matters, it's what you do with it!"
When I think of it, it seems that most time periods had short hairstyles; the 20s, 30s, and 50s. The 40s I think the style was long pretty much, mostly shoulder length. ut l
I agree with everyone else....it's mostly how the hair is styled.
I also agree with how silly and ignorant it is for someone to ever say that a true pinup model doesn't have short hair, i mean....what a laugh.
I've had diffrent hairstyles myself, and I actually prefer short because it's so much easier to style...but I'm sure I'll want to grow it to my shoulder again and wear it in ways that I can't now ;).
Oh, yeah....I forgot about the hair color question. Blondes, Brunettes, Red heads.....I believe we have varieties, don't we?
I don't think that they HAVE to have long hair, I think the typical woman in the 40's had at least shoulder length hair but there were plenty who had the shorter hair. I think I associate shorter hair more with the 20's and 30's but there are many gorgeous girls out there with short hair that pull off the pinup look.

Regarding color, definitely no color may be left out. I would say that unnatural hair colors can throw the look off and in a photo it makes it appear less authentic pinup and more modern but pinup isn't just a look, it's an attitude and as the site has so graciously put it, a lifestyle.
That guy was very poorly informed and probably just stating his preference. What a goof.
I agree, the style matters - is it appropriate for the outfit/look that is being shot? Other than that - color and length are a matter of personal taste.
I recently discovered that during the second world war in Britain cosmetics, for both hair and make up, were not rationed. This was done to keep up the morale of the women and give them one nice thing during such horrible times. They were encouraged to have elaborate hair and nice make up to compensate their lack of clothing, so it is from here that we get all those beautiful hair styles of the 1940's. However, as I think I said in an earlier post, they were kept short for practical reasons, and so this was mirrored in the pin ups of the day: elegant yet practical.
I did my first pin up shoot the other day.. and I have curly short hair, my hair designer rocked out my hair... It looks classy, sassy and beautiful.. I do not think length should matter, as long as you have the glam then you got it.. :)
One of the girls in my group has short hair...and she's probably the most popular girl out of the 12!
Well, this is encouraging to me! I'm not a model, nor trying to be one really, but I do like to set my hair in sponge rollers and when I take them out my hair only reaches my chin if that. But I agree- it's not how much you have, it's what you do with it.
Bunny says it all.

I think it depends. But it always has to be glamorous.
