Since there's been alot of discussion on dieting I thought it would be a good idea to post video clips of this show "How to Look Good Naked". I love this show! It's so positive and focuses on giving women confidence in the body they already have as opposed to having them aspire to an unattainable "ideal body". There's a Canadian version of this show now but I don't like it as much as the British version..it's not just the accents! lol : P I love Gok as the host, his style and his personality. So anyone else a fan of this show?

They had a U.S. version hosted by Carson Kressley from "Queer Eye." I loved it and I wish it was still on the air!
If every woman had her own Carson or Gok, there would be no more self-hate and eating disorders!
Yeah...that would be nice for a change...without all the self-hating,dieiting and jealousy we could focus on more important things.

Way to turn a positive thread negative! Nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy. Dieting does not equal self-hating eating disorder!
Yeah? Wanna know how many times it leads to that?
Pointing out problems is NOT negative, it's facing the issue head on rather then putting your head in the sand and not facing the obvious. If anything it is your response that made it negative.

Coming from someone that has just gone from 232 pounds to 185, with 25 more to go to goal weight, I think I can honestly state that getting healthy, having a desire to be healthy does not constitute an eating disorder. I am very well educated on eating disorders, that mostly plague over achieving adolescents. It comes from a need to control something in their life when they have too many pressures to be perfect.

I pointed out that to call people with a desire to be healthy "self hating" and accusing them of having an eating disorder when they are eating healthy and well, is very negative indeed. Especially in the middle of all these threads encouraging people to be fit and healthy.

There isn't anything wrong with being healthy, but usually, when someone goes on a diet, it's not to get healthy; it's to get skinny. Oftentimes, women go overboard and become obssessed with trying to attain a "perfect" body. We are all different and need to just stop trying to fit ourselves into some kind of one-size-fits-all mold.
I'm not trying to discourage anyone from their goals, unless those goals are harmful.

I don't want to be skinny, just look good! To me, skinny isn't attractive. Some people make vast generalizations on this forum, and when I am personally trying to get to a healthy weight (160 at 5'8" some would still consider "fat") and I read that dieting will lead to an eating disorder, or that because I want to look better it means I'm "self hating" I am going to speak up.

I love myself no matter how much I weigh, as the people who know me on this forum can attest to! My weight never stopped me from getting a date, getting married, having friends, and having a good time. It did make it harder to wear the clothes I want to wear or do some of the things I like to do, so I chose to do the smart thing and go to weight watchers which teaches healthy eating habits.

This thread started out very positive but took a negative turn with comments like I pointed out. In the middle of threads where people who do need to loose some weight to be fit are posted, it seems very defeating. A damned if you do, damned if you don't.
