Pinup girls with NO tattoos??

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't quite sure. Anyway, I'm very torn on the subject of tattoos, and one of my friends told me that you cannot be a pinup with no tattoos. I disagreed. While i'm not totally against the idea of getting one, I don't think it's completely necessary to complete the look either. I gave him the example of Bernie Dexter for instance, who yes...has a few, but isn't all tatted up either. What do you all think?

Ooh, I knew about Bernie but only knew Dita had the beauty spot tattooed on. What else does she have?

In my opinion...Pinup is all about attitude. Your confidence, how you carry yourself, a classic style. It has nothing to do with tattoos. I believe that Pinups with tattoos are more of new wave Pinup girls, definitely different than classic Pinups. Be yourself, be fabulous, be your own Pinup. There is no standard.

it is all an attitude.... i dont need ink to show an attitude, by ANY means...
some tattoo artists, who have known me for years recently asked to see my ink... and they were TOTALLY surprised that i didnt have any.... they were shoked and honored that i wouldnt, and dont need to tattoo myself up... i'm a canvas made to pose!

Tattoos aren't just for showing "attitude". My body is my journal. Most of which is dedicated to special moments in my life. My Marriage, my kids, my sisters and my friends. Not one of my tattoos have anything to do with how the world sees me, or any "attitude" that I may be trying to portray.

Alas, I believe this is becoming a different thread all together. Back on topic please!

I'm not sure what Dita has exactly, because they're always covered up. One of my girlfriends who works in makeup for Paramount says that she has something on her lower back and legs though. (I'll have to investigate further!)

I have no tattoos, and love it. Not that I don't think you can't be a pinup with tattoos, I have just seen to many girls with hideous tattoos that have scared me into getting any.

I have ZERO tattoos and keeping it that way! It's part of "alt pinup" I guess it could be called, but in no way do you "have to" have anything like that to be pinup. It's all style and personality.

And let's be honest, how hard is it to find someone WITHOUT tats these days??

its not about weather or not you have tats it about showing who you are , that sexy confident vixen, on the inside. Tattoos were still taboo when the original pin up showed up it was more about being the sexy girl next door.

I couldn't agree more!!!!Original girls had no tattoos,it's not a condition then,I've got a bracelet and two little ones,maybe I'd like one on my back,but I think it's not necessary to be inked,just if u love it!!

You don't need to have tattoos to be a pinup....and getting tattooed just because other models are tattooed is the wrong reason to get tattooed. The most beautiful and original thing you can do is just be you, tattooed or not.
