Pin Up name

[Ruby Rae *SGC*]

Most of you ladies have picked out great pin up names, so I was wondering if anyone could help me out with mine. I've been PirateMa since I've had kids, but I don't really think I want that as my pin up name. All suggestions are welcome! Thanks so much!

Firstly, allow me to say that you are an absolute doll and your photos are gorgeous.

I would suggest perhaps taking inspiration from people you admire, be they another pin-up model, burlesque performer or Hollywood starlet. Something that you feel would represent you and also unique enough to stand out.

Sorry if that's not much help. Names are always a tough thing, especially since you get the feeling there are ton of other people out there who have it too. *bah*

I agree with Lenore. It has to be something you identify with, especially if that is what you will be going by at shoots, events, etc. It's got to be a name you want to be called and feel good about answering to! I have been trying to pick a pinup name for some time now... I had just about settled on Ava Raven because I think Ava is such a pretty name and Raven goes well with it (as well as being fascinating creatures). I tried it out for a day and almost immediately realized it wasn't the name for me...

You can't just pick something out of the blue because it sounds good or you think you like it. Actually having people refer to you as this name is a whole different story. I just didn't identify with Ava Raven, it sounded weird when people called me Ava, more like I was playing a character in a play and people were calling me by my character name.... You want your name to somehow reflect YOU (or your 'Alter Pinup Ego' you), not some random name.

Therefore, I feel it would be hard for someone else to pick a name for you :( The best advice I can offer is that you might think of using a variant of your real name, or a nickname you have/had...something that already 'feels' right. For instance, I play online games a lot (World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy Online, etc), and my character's name is always Raquelle. So I've been using this name for a while and am used to people calling me by that name online, so I will probably end up using Raquelle as the first name it whatever pinup name I eventually decide on.

I'm sorry if I'm not being much help! Give us some names that your thinking might work for you, and maybe we can help you narrow the choices down!

Hahaha, I understand the feeling. I am very much a lurker around most sites, most of the time. This is generally because I feel like I'm unable to articulate what I want to say correctly without it somehow coming out the wrong way through text (either I feel way too strongly about a subject and come off harsh or condescending, or don't know enough about a subject to add anything of value to the conversation, etc). But every once in a while, I will know enough about a subject, or feel a enough of a real connection to a subject, that I really WANT to say something... so I do, and just hope that it's helpful in some way XD

Although I couldn't tell you how many times I've started to write up a post, edited it through a few times, and ended up deleting it all and never posting, hahaha.

Anyway, Let us know what you decide Ruby! If nothing else, I can tell you that kinda like what you have now: "Ruby Rae" :)

I think RubyRae is an excellent pin-up name. My advice (for anyone else trying to choose) is to google your name once you've chosen it. If nobody else comes up, then you know that when anybody googles you in future, your portfolios and pictures will come up first. :)

I have just recently thought of one, I chose Ada Sapphire. Partly because of Ada Lovelace (very clever lady, widely thought of as the first computer programmer and Byron's daughter). I also thought it was a good name for the period. What do you think?
