Nikon or Canon

I love the Versatility and look of my Nikon. But I really like the nifty crisp LCD screen that all the Canons have. The thing i dont like about Canon is the Lag that it has when you sort thru the pics while your viewing on the camera. Nikon is Pretty awesome when it comes to that. No lag, I wanna here all your thoughts pros and cons. Spare no feelings. Once again Im a nikon man myself.

I've personally always been a fan of Canon, although Nikon's are really nice as well, I almost bought one. But, I had been wanting the Canon Rebel XT foreeever so that's the one I went with, & so far I've been pleased with it [it's my first ACTUAL camera]

In nearly every single full-on test I've read for the same reasons you have, Canon has better color, lenses, and processors in digital than anyone else. Nikon is still strong and relevant in the field, but you'll never hear of someone selling off their Canon for a Nikon, it's true.

I'm not even a Canon owner, so I'm not biased, but the differences become evident when it comes down to detail, from people who put my talent to shame.

If you're a Sony Alpha Owner, save your money, because they're working WITH Canon on their sensor tech, and have, in the past year, begun working with Carl Zeiss for lenses... pricey, but gorgeous.

I agree glass is everything with a camera, LCDs are useless as far as judging color and correct light, I always use a light meter and use the histogram if I don’t have a meter. As far as which cameras are better, I used to swear by Nikon for all of the 35mm style shooting until 2002 when canon came out with the 1DS MK1. Then I switched to canon for all of small format shooting, I still have 1 Nikon film body and an 80-200 still works great, as for all of my main small format stuff it is all canon. Medium and large format shooting is a different story.

Im currently useing and old film Nikon and i love it! I do want a digital Nikon but there soo expensive I can only dream of one!
heres a few pictures i just took 2 weeks ago with it.

I've worked with photographers that are Canon fans and I've worked with some that are Nikon fans. I'm not really into the technical aspect of it. as stated elsewhere, I just do video but I went with the jvc 110, one of the reasons is that gorgeous piece of fujinon glass hanging off the front end.
But I was reading a similar thread on a video forum and it mimicks a lot of the same stuff here. There was a big debate about what was best and somebody posted something to the effect that a filmmaker like Ridley Scott could make a great movie with a vhs camcorder.

I hope to be dabbling in still work in about 6 months or so, so I really appreciate threads like this one.

Yeah there is def a lot of buzz around the red, but oh that price tag. I think other formats will be at play for a while, but the path that red is taking is going to be interesting to watch.
I was so thrilled when I got my firestore portable harddrive and started shooting to drive instead of those damn tapes. In another few years we'll probably just record everything to chips implanted in our brains...
