Ever. How was it?

My first shoot was with Ama Lea photography. How it happened was pretty funny. I've been told for awhile "You should model, your so pretty" And well, I'm too short for Next Top Model, so I brushed it off. One day my friend called me and asked if I was busy because this photographer on MySpace posted a bulletin about needing 25 models for a school project with a vintage feel.
Luckily I wasn't working so I hopped in her car with a couple cardigans and pearl necklaces. We got to her apartment and the buzz was so exciting! There were people coming and going, hair and makeup being done and of course shooting. When it was my turn I was kind of nervous, but after I was blinded by the light there wasn't enough time to wonder how it went, because it was the next person's turn!
A couple days later she posted a blog with all our photos and the full creation. I found out then that the project was photograph 25 people in the same lighting without moving or changing the set. She chose to do 1955 senior class portraits. I added my photo and the finished project.
Enjoy!

And what was your first experience?

i really like the girl with the camera, too!
I'm digging the badass with the cigarette. Nice touch!
i started about 4 years ago... i was the punk'rock(what is)a'billy DiY pinups of myself (i didn't even know at the time, how pinup my first pinups were! i still had no i dea about this AMAZING pinup'rock'a'billy sub-culture we like to be a part of online....

i didn't know what i was going for, but i did the 'OL self timer pics... and i saw something in myself that i had never seen before in a photo, confident, i was acting and playing a role that i enjoyed, through PiNUP PHOTOGRAPHY...
first

So i took a few expired, GiL Elvgren Calendars, hung the pinups in frames, and hung them on my walls... (i still, practice those joy pinup facial expressions, poses...)
THEN two years went by, and i heard about Bettina's was putting on her first "How-To-Be-A-PiNUP-GiRL" workshop in Victoria... i thought this would be nice to give my sweetie a pinup photo of me, taken by somebody else...
i learned the basics of a pinup photoshoot... it was amazing... when i got my pictures, i remember being SO proud of myself! they looked great and i knew i could have done a better job... i worked a few months later with Bettina and did a kitchen frolic set, that was TO DiE FOR CUTE!!! Bettina is an amazing pinup teacher, and I'm proud to think of her as one of my PiNUP mentor's! (BERNiE DextER iS one Too!)

so i bought a Fancy'Shh-mancy Camera. i love to go to car shows, go to swap meets, build hotrods, ride the tilt'a'wherl, rockabilly shows, play with wiener dogs, go on Thrift Store TiKi Hunts, so on and so forth, i learned to get my boyfriend to take a pinup style pic of me around vintage things... i wanted to experience an art, being 'period correct'...
yes
Photobucket
i practiced with lights, different backdrops, different cameras, wardrobe, hair, make-up, back to the lighting, shoes, and ever little thing a real pinup girl, knows it takes to put together a shoot...

I'm pretty sure I don't have any images from my first photo shoot nor do I really remember much of it.. It was well over 10 years ago =) Unfortunately my petite frame held me back from continuing to model seriously. Now I just do fetish and artistic nude work =)
I love the yearbook idea - rad and you looked beautiful!!

Sue - your pictures are darling!!

My first shoot was actually in Vegas. My friend Erin and talked me into being a model for a bunch of photogs for WPPI - a big wedding/portrait photog convention. I had agreed and we spent a week in Vegas...with the shoot being at the end of the week. I had an AWFUL week (we'll just say it made me remember why I don't hang out with girls very much..and when I do...they are pretty effing rad) and I ended up getting sick the last three days....really sick.

The day of the shoot we had to be at the Paris at 7:00 am for hair and make-up and then on the shuttle to the site by 8. I spent a couple wee morning hours on the floor of the bathroom with a hot washcloth over my face, cold sweats and a fever of 102..... so needless to say, I didn't look my best. We got to the Paris only to find out the the hair and make-up lady hadn't shown up yet...so for the next hour and a half it was a scramble trying to get every one's hair and make-up done. The make-up artist finally shows up, when everyone was pretty much done, and helps with the last 3 girls (me included). It was a long day, a really hard day...I felt awful and barely even had a voice.

Great photos though! Loves them!
