I've always taken a dear friend of mine to a photoshoot with me or if the shoot is at my apartment my boyfriend is usually there. One thing I CANNOT STAND is when photographers say "No Escorts!". Wanna know why it p***** me off? I've been taken advantage of before and it wasn't pretty and we'll just say the police were involved and lots of therapy.

So tell me, why do photographers still say no escorts even IF some models have been taken advantage of? My escorts never butt in or say anything... what are they so paranoid about?

There are so many "horror" stories about escorts butting in and such. I heard about a girl who brought her boyfriend and he was getting so into it the photographer got uncomfy, like he was intruding in their sexy time. Also sometime they complain that escorts get in the way like trying to play director... and I can see how that gets annoying. All you can do is assure them that the escort won't get in the way and if the photographer still stands his/her ground if you're really that uncomfortable i wouldn't shoot with them.

PS: My worst escort experience is when the escort tried to get in on the photo shoot. The photographer actually liked it, but it made ME uncomfortable.
I can't stand that either! I would never do a shoot with someone who said no escorts if I was feeling I needed one. No shoot is worth it to me if I don't feel comfortable! I don't care how annoying their experiences have been with models bringing escorts, like in any job sometimes you have to suck it up and deal with it. Practicing safety in your job should never be frowned upon. I never go alone (unless I know the photog or know someone who has worked with them obviously) and I always let someone know exactly where I'm going and all contact information. Sorry to here you had a nasty experience!
It was fine. I was just new to the scene and didn't realize how pissed I was till I saw the pictures. Then I thought, Hey... I paid for this shoot. And I'm never going to use these. My own fault for being a pushover.
Anywho. I agree. Safety is a good thing.
I'm also getting tired. Can you tell?
escorts steal photo equipment :)
I have been to a shoot without an escort and will NEVER do it again. It put me in such a bad and scary position. It didn't go well for me. I now take my best friend, whom I say is my hair and make up. I feel safer. She never says anything but I have not done shoots because I can't have anyone there. I will never be in that situation again.
I bet you hide your own equipment and blame it on the escort hoping to get new stuff.

I've never had an escort. I always check referenced (more than one) and I always meet with the photographer before the shoot. Also, I give the address of the place I will be to a friend of mine. I call him when I'm done and he's been instructed that if he doesn't hear from me within 2 hours of my scheduled shoot, he is to go over there and check on me or call the cops. It sounds way more convuluted than it is. LOL. I have never had any issue at all and most of my shoots have female assistants or makeup artists, so I don't worry about it.
LOL. I read that all the time on mayhem!

well i usually don't shoot non pro models unless its for small projects or pinup type work, but when i shoot i usually have a crew of up to 3 or more on location with me and plus this is my only job. so it creeping out on models doesn't pay the bills. and let me ask you this, do you bring an escort to your day job?

but i do understand your need for safety, also check references and see what the photographer has done. i do want my models and clients to be comfortable and feel safe, but i also want it to be a professional environment too..
I usually bring my husband or another model with me unless the shoot is in a very public place I'm familiar with like a car show then I'm usually okay with it. Female photographers I'm usually alot more comfortable with not needing an escort. I always schedule a meetup prior to scheduling the shoot (unless it is absolutely impossible to do so, like the photog is from out of state) so the photographer gets a good idea of the type of person I am and whether or not they really want to work with me. I've only encountered one photographer that I've met in person that I wasn't completely comfortable with and I could tell he wasn't comfortable with me. We just decided not to work together because of that. If one or the other feels uncomfortable the photos won't turn out well.

I've had one photographer tell me that I absolutely couldn't bring an escort and I specify in my MM profile that I will usually bring an escort either male or female. His photos were mostly nude or implied nude so I was totally turned off by being told that.

My husband when he is the escort, most photographers forget he is even there. He stays out of it unless the photographer asks his input.
i dont know why, i let girls know that they can be comfortable alone, if somebody would like another person there, by all means(WHEN I'M THE PHOTOGRAPHER) there is usually no problems ... but i know i would want to bring my boyfriend to ANY photoshoot i do!!!
