Model release for photogs?

I'm curious what models think about model release forms and if you ever thought of having your own "photographer release" form. I've not come across any issues with this yet, but I'm starting to wonder if it would be smart to have one too. Mostly, because I want to be sure that the photos we take are agreed on by both parts before they can be placed on the internet or promoted with your name and face on it. Anyone have any experiences with this to share?

Ive worked with a model that had a photo release form. Fairly standard, basically that I would not utilize the photos to advertise anything other than the site or as content for the site intended. I doubt I can find it but I thought it was a great idea and had no issues signing it!

Most of the model release forms I sign have this stated already. They basically say that the photos will not be used by either party for commercial purposes.

The odd thing is, I have discovered after doing this a while, that the more established a photg is, the less likely it is that I will have to sign anything. It's the ones who are just starting out that want you to sign a ton of papers.

I have my own release form and its pretty basic. if its tfp standrds you will not sell photos unless money in coming my bay, you can only use the photos for certain things, the extended time i need the photos in my hand ect
I kinda had to make one cuz I was getting screwed over alot.

i always sign a model release form, or some kind of contract with my photographer so we're both very clear on the ownership of the pics and what they can and can't be used for.

yes i am so glad seanna posted this!! i was wondering that myself. if anyone has a copy of anything they use, it would be really helpful. i'm only concerned because i don't want things misclassified or used in the wrong way, because i've been offered money recently for basic fully clothed pinup shoots and the photographer wanted to put them on sale on some giant porno hub.

Yeah, this is a great example you've got here Bea Rock!

Like I said I've not come across this problem yet, all of the photographers I've worked with have been wonderful and I know not all photographers are out to swindle a model.
For some though, once it starts to involve money in pocket for them I'm curious how greedy the situation can get. I think if a photog didn't like the looks of a model bringing their own release, it would seem fishy to me. I don't care how established a photographer is, he/she should always understand one wanting to protect themselves and their name. I feel like I've been lucky to have worked with trust worthy people but, my luck has got to run out one time or another and I want to make sure I'm prepared.

if you worried about bad photographers, work with established and published photographers, the people you need to watch out for are the weekend warrior photographers. i have seen the photographer release work against a model in the past. if you want my two cents ill post more :)

I wouldn't say I'm too worried about it. I'm mostly just curious what other models are doing as far as contracts in case I should be doing the same. I would definitely like to hear about your experience with a photographer release! Thanks for your input! :)

I've never had a release form and have always been told that it's stuck up if a model has her own release form. I don't use a release form b/c I use all the same photographers. If I ever use new photographers I'll probably use a release form... but even still... if you're paying for a shoot you shouldn't bring your own release form. That just looks really bad if the photographer is extremely experienced and professional.

If anybody has a release form they'd like to send me, please do! I'd like to have one for any new photographers I use. This question always confuses me because I think "Should I be using one too?!?"
