Well yes, I got a hickey. Tee Hee. Don't worry, it was my boyfriend who gave it too me. :) Not a gift I wanted to wake up to this morning.
Its not too bad but its there and it makes me blush every time I see it.
It will happen to all of us at one point in our lives.

The best way to cover it up. Yellow concealer. Yes, go buy a color correction wheel. It will be your best friend. Im going to tell you how the colors work.

Ivory - Hides under-eye circles. I have super dark circles. This color hides them with no problems.
Yellow - Also hides under-eye circles and blue veins.
Lilac (blue) - Radiance effect, I have no idea what this color is really for, lol, its the only color I haven't touched.
Natural - Corrects and shapes.
Green - Counteracts redness. I use this one to color pimples and other red dots I might end up getting.

With the yellow and green colors, you apply it to the opposite color. The opposite of yellow is purple, so the counteract each other. Same with red and green. Also if you remember art class mixing yellow with purple and red with green makes brown.

You apply the corrector then you lightly apply you natural foundation.

You can buy a color correction wheel at you local drugstore. Just ask the make-up lady.
They range in price of course.
I was looking at ones that when from $20 to $30. I went to Zellers and found one by NYC (you know there a lower end brand, there good, but no one trusts them because of the price.) It was $7. Totally worth it. I want to get another one too.

My friend just came home with one with the other morning, and since all shops were closed and we didn't have alot of our make-up to cover it, we had to make do with what we had in hand, a concealer and some loose powder. It only partly did the job.

However, if you have a day or two to get rid of it, (depending on how dark it is it could take a few days) there is a cream espessially made to get rid of bruises. As an old kickboxer it came in handy when I didn't want to show up all covered-up for school etc. My friend applied it 4 times yesterday, and once this morning, and the marks had faded to about half their strenght. I forgot the name, but they sell it over-the-counter at pharmacies here, so you could ask at your local drug-store.

Your post is really useful, it works for all kinds of bruises too, not just hickeys!
thanks for the makeup tips! now i know how to hide a suprise hickey, every girl should know that. ive also heard of taking a warm spoon and rubing it gently from the center outwards to help disipate the blood that has collected under the skin. i think it may be bigger for a day or two but it heals faster. not sure, i havn't tried it yet.
Glad you posted this. I learned all this when I was learning to be a make up artist but a LOT of people don't know about this stuff.

:) THanks girl! I bruise so easily I've never let a guy give me a hickey!
I don't let him give me hickeys either. I had a little to drink and he must of snuck it in there sometime that night. :) lol
Well, i have a HUGE one right on my throat, my boyfriend did it as he thought it was funny, no time to go out and get concealer, so i was wearing a leopard scarf all day yesterday, until it slipped, my boss noticed and eeeeeveryone laughed at me and called me a dirty little stop out!
x
Rotten boys. They just don't know that hickys don't suit a girl with class.
haha Great post!
....I had a dream about hickeys last night...
Oooh, I live in fear of them - I bruise easily as well. Never had one, and my fiance knows it's the death penalty if he attempts it - which he threatens on occasion because he thinks it's hilarious.
Muahaha! Great Topic I love it.....
You can try Physicians Formula
Has great color cover up at affordable prices easy to find at your local pharmacy CVS and Walgreens
I think you might be thinking of arnica (gel or cream)... that stuff can work wonders! It never occurred to me to try it on "love bites."

Arnica fixes everything bump and bruise related! If you can find the oil, it's even better - gets absorbed right in (makes a fantastic rub for sore muscles too).

Great subject...thanks ladies on the tip for the bruising cream. I am in roller derby and have found that my skates have been bruising my ankles. It was just yesterday that I thought "this isn't gonna look pretty in pumps", and I love my pumps. So, I'm gonna give it a try.
