The thing about shooting pin-ups...

Okay, it's kind of funny to me that I have been so focused on pinup photography recently. My photographic style, my heroes, and my "usual" aesthetic don't really lend themselves to the genre, on the face of it. I am all about Hurrell, classic "Hollywood Glamor", and black and white photography:

and , apropos of nothing in particular, a "gothic" sensibility (hence "PhotoGothy").
But here's the thing: Pinup is FUN. Not easy, mind you; it's actually very, very hard to pull in the painterly aesthetic with a photographic medium. It's even trickier to try to stay true to the things that I tend to love most about photographs; deep tones, rich shadows, the interplay of shape and shadows. I don't know that I've even begun to live up to the images in my head, but I am loving being here on PL, because there is a whole, huge community of inspiration... So keep tuned, I've got about a zillion shoot ideas lined up to work on, and I'll keep posting the outcome here, hoping it's of some interest to somebody besides me!
