Have I mentioned I am always late. For everything. Fashionably of course.

I know, I know! I haven't taken pictures of the dress but are you ready for this!!! As if that dress wasn't fabulous enough my grandfather pulled out some clothing bags when I visited with him recently and gave me two of my aunts old dresses. She hadn't wanted them and he knows I am into this stuff.

OH MY GOD.

First of all my aunt was as thin as my pinky finger, the b****. I would be surprised if these dresses even fit my leg. I haven't had time to figure out a size yet but from looking at them I would say somewhere between 1 - 6. MAYBE an 8 but I don't know. I will measure and see.

These are honest to God antiques. So beautiful I can't even tell you. I don't know if I want to sell them. I do in one way because I would like to see them with a vintage collector who could actually wear them and people could appreciate them. At the same time I am a collector and I don't have anything like these, even though I cannot wear them. They are in mint condition and I could keep them for another twenty years and then they'd be worth what? Amazing. I'm so torn.

They are both formal dresses. One was a prom dress, back in the era when prom was very prim and the skirts were poofy. The other is a party dress. The fabric is the kind of nice, really well tailored, stuff you just don't see today. It's still, it smells like an antique and it's so lovely it makes me want to cry. If I could fit into one of these dresses I would never take them off.

Now they aren't exactly pin-up couture, at least not sexy vamp pin-up. These are something a young Lady from the 50's would have worn out to a very special event, or to her coming out party. They are very proper dresses. There's nothing low cut or revealing. They have to be the sexiest dresses I have ever seen. I wish I could find period shoes to match! I will have to ask my aunt what she wore!

Can you tell I am excited.

I can't wait to show you. More of a tease from me. I swear I will get photos of all of the dresses soon. I ended up going out of town on a spur of the moment trip and it was wonderful. Nice to be out of the cold for a bit and see some sandy shores. The -whatever wind chill today does not agree with me.
