Ah the smell of hair dye at one am. Shoot and party tomorrow, kinda had to. I procrastinated this week.

This time I am trying light burgundy blonde by ion.

Never ever ever buy box color over the shelf. Unless the beauty store is closed and you are in a rush. Otherwise, don't do it! Go to the beauty store look through all of the shades and get professional salon color. It's actually cheaper than you'll get in a box on the shelf and better for you. You can get the shelf stuff too without the box price, if that's the brand you happen to like. If you are like me with really long hair you can get enough to do your hair without spending a fortune too.

You'll get the color and developer seperate. Developer comes in huge bottles so you can get enough to last you for several colorings and it's also relatively cheap. Then each time you dye all you have to get is the color. They always try and tell you that you have to get the developer made by the same color company you've chosen your color from. This isn't true. Any developer will do. Find some you like and stick with it.

I actually like the ion developer and use it with most any old color I do. Make sure the color you are using needs developer before you add it in and what level of developer you need. I always use 20 when I'm not doing any major lightening. Red is always my poison of choice these days but I have been every color in the rainbow and then some at one time or another. I also love blonde and black, but I will never go black again. It's just too hard to get out of your hair once you've done it. I have really fine soft hair and trying to lighten from black or change away from it kills my hair. The last time my hair was black I was 19. I swore never again. I love how it looks and I always want to go there again. I satisfy this coal craving with wigs!

If you are using punky type colors like manic panic, nuclear, or etc you won't need developer. These are usually cheaper at beauty stores too, rather than at the chain stores. Being a Diva you probably already knew this but hey I love to gab about hair.

When I went to the beauty store the other day the one I normally go to was closed. I had to drive across town to find another one. I also needed new rats for my vic rolls. When I walked in I asked the Lady at the front counter if they had rats.

Her eyes got really wide and she shrieked "Oh my God no! We don't have rats!"

*snorts* How can you work in a beauty store and not know what a rat is! The owner turned out to have more of a clue but unfortunately they didn't carry any foam supports or rats. They did have kind of a fat foam doughnut for Chignons which I got a couple of. They are fatter than my normal rats. I thought maybe I could cut them up and do some really thick voluptuous rolls. I'm going to try them out tomorrow.

As I was saying I have really long hair. Half way down my back. It's hard for me to dye it all by myself. I can't reach all of it or get it fully saturated. I enlisted the hottie lying in my bed to help me. I looked up and he was standing behind me fully naked holding both of his hands in the air with latex gloves on.

He said "Something about this just doesn't look right!"

I laughed. He set to working on my hair and half way through I hear "Bloody f****** hell I'm going to have purple pubes!" (The cream looks purple even though the outcome is red hair.)

I told him he could just take the leftover dye and finish the job.

He said "Oh yeah, then people can just call me the red rocket."

Time to go rinse my hair!
