Everytime I tell someone that I am working on doing a burlesque act, they always come at me with the same response "oh, so you're going to be a stripper." My response is "No. I'm an entertainer, an actress, and a dancer." Burlesque is humorous to me and sexy at the same time. It's purpose isn't to sexually stimulate a person, but rather to embody a character/attitude and display it in a theatrical like setting. Alas, some burlesque is just the art of the tease and consists of just seductive dancing. It is a classy act. I'm not quite sure why people get it mixed up. I think because there are some strippers that use it in their act as a style, like Dita Von Teese when she worked as a stripper. Now, I'm not saying strippers are bad people. I just want people to acknowledge the difference. Pole stripping is more about movement and body strength (like a gymnast), whereas burlesque entertaining is more about acting, singing, dancing, something you would see at a Las Vegas show. So, tsk tsk to the people who are confused and think burlesque is stripping, remember you have it the other way around.

Scarlet
