Bad news about Chomp the pitbull!

Chomp had his initial surgery to have his injured tail amputated on Dec 23. Over the weekend his tail was not healing and was an open wound and his bone even started to protrude from the end. We are very unhappy with the vet we took him to seeing as we paid $620 that we didn't have, for a surgery that a mentally challenged chimp could have performed better. They didn't leave enough skin for the tail to properly stay closed and only 2 sutures were put in place. Now I won't name names but I am totally ticked because on Friday night I called them and let them know what was going on. Only for them to wait an hour and a half to call me back and tell me they weren't seeing anymore appointments as my dog was bleeding all over the house and I was already late to work. I asked them specific questions that they couldn't answer and they didn't seem to care that the dog was shivering in pain because they didn't administer the right pain medication. So anyway we took Chomp to another Vet and they were hoping they could just staple it shut and back home he would be....but of course he needs another surgery to correct the last one. So Chomp is staying the night at the new Vet's and will have his second surgery tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the end of it. The estimate for the surgery is $450-$800! How we will come up with this in a day is beyond me considering we just spent our rent money on the first botched surgery.

I am again asking help from friends and animal lovers to bring Chompy home a.s.a.p. They will not let him come home til this is paid for. All of this because a Vet did a half ass job on a simple routine surgery.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet baby's trouble! Vet bills are one of the reasons me and my hubby don't have a dog, though we really want one.
