I don't know about you girls, but I have to work at keeping my body in shape. One thing I love about pinup is that it is full of real honest to goodness ladies and we are not all shaped the same. The perfect body is not required, but we all want to look our best.

The purpose of this discussion is to talk about exercise tips for the ladies targeting certain areas of our bodies!!! Let us know tricks you have learned or any crazy things you have tried in the past. :)

Ladies I want to remind us ALL that our bodies are natural living organisms and that we are not going to be perfect about working out, eating like we should, etc. Life is life, and our motivations will wax and wane. Our weight will fluxuate but we will need to learn to care for ourselves the best we can and sometimes when we are in the moment, the moment might not be so great, but learn to let go of yesterday and live in the now. If one day our body says stay in bed and nurse our cold, then that's what you should do. If the next, that means get up and run, then by all means get up and run. Our bodies were meant to carry babies and to gather food, to walk long distances, and brave cold and hot weather, etc and each and every one of us is different. Above all remember we are pin-up girls and we are unique and special in some way. The best way to take care of your body is to take care of what is between the ears.
Oh i absolutely agree too, we just got a combo set a heavy bag and a speed bag, i have to admit i use the heavy bag much more than the speed bag but i've already noticed a huge difference in my arms after a weeks use. We got it for my son who's adhd to relieve his tempers and yah its gotta be the best thing out there for stress relief.

Yeah, that reminds me I love the boxing games on the Wii. I wanna take lessons to do it for real. But I consider it more anger management then exercise! Haha!

Yup, some if not most gals are meant to have curves. : ) I'm loving mine! As for aging (which honestly freaks me out more then weight)...remember to keep outta the sun. That's easy to do if you live in Canada...And I read an article that sugar ages your skin. So maybe restrict the sweets. And a good anti-aging cream doesn't hurt. If all else fails I geuss there's Botox! : P lol

I just re-read through the postings and I have to agree with the person who said that some people were meant to have a little weight on them. I think that everyone is unique with a unique shape, and some people look just fantastic because they are voluptuous. There is one pinup I'm thinking of right now who is a famous plus size pinup and she is GORGEOUS, but the name is escaping me right now.

As for me, I know what is right for my body type and the unhealthy way I feel when I have these extra pounds on. I'm not stressed over it or anything---still think I look good but know I look (and feel!) better within a certain range and with a more athletic proportion of muscle to fat. I'm having a lot of success continuing to lose and I'm about 10 lbs down and losing. Yay!

Now, you girls want to talk about aging, THAT is where I am starting to freak out a little. :-)
eeeew, Botox....not so sure about that one. I'm afraid that once things start to go, theres only so much that can be done about it unless you want to look like a lion-lady. Not for me.

My skin is very white and I've tried to keep it that way over the years so I'm not a tanner. But you'd be surprised how much your complexion darkens & changes a little over time even when you avoid the sun all your life! I think it's wise to watch your vitamin D if you are staying away from the sun---sun-avoiders tend to be too low in the D department.

I'm in NY, but what I wonder about is HOW anyone who lives in the Southwest or any desert region manages to avoid sun exposure! I was visiting out there and tanned THROUGH my rigorously applied 30-plus sunblock. I was upset about that because I do not like my complexion when tanned.

About the sugar, I believe that sugar definitely contributes to aging issues because sugar causes inflammation, which then causes all kinds of related conditions (bloating, gas, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, thyroid issues, etc) not to mention candida related conditions (athlete's foot, yeast infections, joint problems, sinus issues, digestive conditions & food allergies, bladder infections, puffy eyes, acne, etc, etc) from the overgrowth of fungus in the system.

Because of a pre-disposition to diabetes and some of these other reasons I'm off sugar (& caffeine--different story) and reclaiming my diet---eating only whole foods with a huge focus on raw foods, greens, sprouts, seaweeds. Anti-aging creams may be good but nothing will work if you have a crappy diet, IMO

Thank god that sugar monkey is off my back, though. I was a stone-cold addict.
Ok...so the Botox thing is extreme...sure. Some people are that scared of wrinkles.
I have a pretty good diet...almost VEGAN!! And hardly any sugar I like my tea black or just a drop of organic honey..yummy!! No coffee give me the jitters! I find the cream just helps the anxiety and it works so why the hell not?
But yeah if you live where it's nice and warm all the time your skin does take a beating. I notice that when I go to Chile or watch Chilean TV even the younger actors have wrinkles and crow's feet...yikes! When I'm there I walk around with a parasol everywhere I don't care if I look like a freak! No crow's feet please and thank you!

I live in Arizona...the <3 of the desert...and it is not easy to NOT tan while out and about out here. You can apply all the SPF you want out here and it'll only color you a golden color. There is no way around it unless you wear long sleeves and pants all year round. Hats help!!!

All this isn't just for the summer either. I have been running outdoors and hiking a lot more lately and girls at school and home have noticed the tanning. I don't purposely tan outdoors like quite a few people do, so I hear ya when you want to keep your skin free from tans. I have tattoos head to toe and I do not want them fading any quicker than what they do!

I hope this helps for the next time you find yourself out and about in this side of the states!

Bringing this thread back on topic...

The skechers shape ups work great as far as comfy goes. I walked through WDW for 5 days in them, and my legs, back, knees, and feet were all great.

As for them working as a work out, I'm not sure yet. I walked so much that I couldn't tell if the muscle was from the shows or just the amount. But I can honestly say that even if they didn't help, although I think they do, they didn't hurt, and that was really important.

I give them 1 1/2 thumbs up, I'll give another review about regular use in a few days.

*As for the talk about aging, maybe someone could start another thread for that, just to keep this one on topic*
For Roxy and the ladies who have used this type pf shoe, what did you pay for tem and which brands? I think I'm going to give this a go because my legs are definitely my trouble area

Ok so I have been motivated pretty well to exercise and I did so today and I have been staying within the range of calories that I want to eat for the day, but I just ate a really heavy meal. I will eat lightly for the rest of the day but, dang, does my body let me know that it does NOT like this at all!!!

What are your feelings about unprocessed sugars used moderately (like turbanado sugar)? Ive done this when I've done some baking and I have not felt bad or funny. I'm not an over consumer of sugar. I use stevia to sweeten my tea (a non caloric natural sweetener related to the mint plant). Sugar is sugar, but I feel that processing does alter things quite a bit chemically.
