Pinup girls with NO tattoos??

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't quite sure. Anyway, I'm very torn on the subject of tattoos, and one of my friends told me that you cannot be a pinup with no tattoos. I disagreed. While i'm not totally against the idea of getting one, I don't think it's completely necessary to complete the look either. I gave him the example of Bernie Dexter for instance, who yes...has a few, but isn't all tatted up either. What do you all think?

the original pinups had no tattoos, so no you do not have to have tattoos to be a pinup. Whoever told you that, you should smack them in the side of their head.

You're not alone, I don't have any. :) I certainly admire and appreciate them on other people, but after a lot of thought I think I've decided conclusively that they're not for me.

I think as far as whether "a pinup needs tattoos" depends on the look you're going for... sometimes to hit the more "traditional" cheesecake feel you really do want minimal tattoos. But I agree with the other poster... your friend might just deserve a smack up the side of the head :)

I agree with Ashley, there are plenty of ladies on her who if they do have tattoos don't have them on obvious show in their photo shoots.

I honestly think tattoos are irrelevant, and like Jeska said, often down to the look/style/shoot they are going for.

that was the point that I was trying to make about the classic original pinups, they didn't have tattoos so I don't think I have to lol. though you gals are right, it depends on the kinda style you want to go with. that makes sense. I'm still undecided about whether I want one or not, but I've always leaned towards not wanting any at all, so we shall see!

I can't think what it's called but there's this awesome makeup you can get to cover up tattoos for photoshoots, etc. Angelina Jolie has used it in many movies I believe. I think it's called some like tattoo concealer or something along those lines... though there are probably loads of different brands.

Might be interesting to give it a go...

I have a fair few tattoos, but have many pin up model friends with none and they look awesome. you defo don't need to have them. xox

You don't need to have tattoos to be a pinup....and getting tattooed just because other models are tattooed is the wrong reason to get tattooed. The most beautiful and original thing you can do is just be you, tattooed or not.

All you have to do is look around here, you can be thick, slim, tattoo'd, not tattoo'd, tall, or short and be an amazing Pinup. It flows from the inside, and your style.

exactly! i don't want to get a tattoo just because people think that will make me look more like a pinup. if i ever decide to get one, it will be because i WANT one. thank you <3
