Photography at a Show or a Convention

I know I'm okay shooting without a release in a public place where there's no expectation of privacy, but what if I'm taking pictures of people who agree to pose for a shot and I think I might want to use the photograph later on my website or other commercial use? Would it be better to get a signed release before taking the photo or simply tell the person to give me their contact info and I will email them a copy of their photo, along with a release if I'm interested in using the picture later?

I would suggest that you always get a Model Release right then and there. Inevitably you will want to use the photo, especially if it turns out GREAT, for your website or commercial use. People are sometimes hard to track down if you wait until later.

Yeah, I think you are right but the release I have is about 5 pages long. Do you know of a shorter one I could use for such a purpose? Thanks.
