So I just turned 18, and in the UK that mean's I can legally get inked up. I've wanted one for ages, but have never settled on a design. I love the idea of a bow at the top of each thigh, but I don't know if it would look okay. Also, do you think 18 is too young to get a tattoo? Should I wait? When was your first tattoo? Ideas are wholly welcomed

"No disrespect but this really is bad advise, I work alongside tattooist and saying you can just get it covered is easier said than done"

The point was i f you read all what i wrote was to advise Roxie to get something smaller done first, i don't think that is bad advise. I got my seams done after 9 years from my first tattoo. I am stated that majority of people probably don't like their first tattoo, like me with my playboy bunny! i have one cover up, you need to think about tattoos, i know so many people with s*** tattoos. I always go to the same tattoo artist now, took me years to find one i like and trust and she is ace. happy to give anyone her details.

In regards to being too young - I don't think age has anything to do with it.

I got my first tattoo when I was 19 and I went to an evol evol artist who did a really bad job, in fact it was so bad I only got half a tattoo as I didn't want her to continue. So I had it covered up with a lovely tattoo a couple of years ago. I loved the idea of the tattoo I got when I was 19 but it was done badly and only a complete coverup would fix it. I would still have it now if she hadn't messed it up.

The flip side to that is that there are plenty of people who later in life have had tattoos that for some reason they have later removed/altered/covered up (Johnny Depp's "Wino" springs to mind), so I don't think age has a lot to do with whether you will start to hate it or want it covered up in a few years.

I think as long as you like it now, and especially if it has some meaning to you, then you'll probably still want it in years to come.

I have one tattoo that includes my wedding date, if my hubbie and I were ever to split (god forbid!) then I wouldn't have it removed as it would still mean something to me and chronicle a time in my life... though I might get the divorce date added ;p

Either way, I hope you get a great design, the bows are adorable, especially if you have the legs to carry them off! :D
Having seen Roxy's in person, they're super cute and you're so right, Roxie, they're the perfect size!
You can never know what you're going to like 5 years from now. So I would just say make sure it's something you really like right now and think you could live with forever. Like Flaming Aces, I wouldn't go into it just thinking 'doesn't matter what I get, I can cover them'. But at the same time, feel safe knowing that in 5 years if you're a completely different person, laser removal is possible. Hopefully by then it'll be less painful, too!

Good luck! Please keep us posted! I think the bows are super cute, and could be a perfect first tattoo if you really love them! :)

**Note: This is all coming from a person without a single tattoo. haha! But, it's the same advice I give myself when I think I want one. If that helps...
