"We Are The New Vintage"
Joining a new site can be confusing and a chore, maybe you're used to Facebook, or maybe you hate technology. We want to make your first steps into PL a personalized walk thru based on what you do in the industry, whether you're a fan, model, photographer, designer, vendor etc... today we focus on MODELS.
When you join a social network, we assume your first thought is OK, how can I promote myself here and/or get noticed. We'd love to address that and all other model specific FAQ's all in one easy to consume page, help us by answering a few questions:
- When/If you are new to modeling, what questions would you have first?
- What are the things you want to be able to do right away?
- If we had a quick checklist to get you rolling, what would you like to see on it?
- Pretend for a moment you've never even seen PL...walk us thru what you do to setup your home on a social network.
We think the first thing on this checklist will probably be, New to modeling? Click Here!

87 views and 1 GREAT reply. I'm all about quality over quantity, but I must admit that I had hopes of seeing models go nuts at the idea of getting a PL cheat sheet made that would link everything that pertains to promoting themselves....
Miss Va-Voom Vintage, thank you, great great info!
Oh, Thanks! I'm new to modeling myself so I have a LOT of questions. I found many good answers to my newbie questions on the Model Mayhem newbie forum. That might be a good place for you guys to get inspiration as well!
One immediate thing I learned is to not post your email address on your profile. I was new so I didn't know any better. Right away, I received about 5 emails from creeps or scammers. Luckily, I know better so I just ignored and deleted them but not every model knows how to spot a scam. There's a lot of valuable info on MM about avoiding scams and pervy photographers. It's easy to get pulled in and screwed over before you know what you've done!

just thought of a few other questions
How do I start getting paid for modeling? How much to charge?
What things should I ask or mention before meeting for a shoot?
also, it may be helpful to have a portfolio critique thread where we can get constructive criticism and help fellow models build a better portfolio.
Great Job! I would love to know answers to a lot of those questions. It would be nice if there were groups specific to certain cities/states, so that it was easier to learn about what is nearby.
If you go to the menu bar and scroll over Forum you'll see that we do have regional groups. They are just getting started, but there they are! Please feel free to add any posts about things going on in your region, and encourage others to do the same.
