has anyone tried it? I think I am going to try it. Shouldnt be too hard. Does anyone have any tips if they have tried it before? I need to figure out what to use for the boning.

The best thing for the boning (so it keeps a good shape) would be steel bone - you must be able to get it somewhere online. I also wouldn't be surprised if you could find patterns online... alternatively you can reverse engineer a pattern from a corset you already own...

I'm sure it's doable if you have the time and materials :D
DO IT! The possibilities are literally endless. Lately Roxy Tart has had a few being made with her, its totally cool that she can now dream up and idea and BOOM she's wearing it the next time we see her.
exactly! it should be quite easy I think. I will dig into the steel boning. Thanks a lot for the tip!!

I've done it and it's a p.i.t.a. but it can be done! Simplicity and Butterick have some great patterns in the halloween section! Here's a few links to corset supplies that I have used. http://www.corsetmaking.com/

I've been sewing for 12 years and it took me a while to figure out how to get it all just right. If you've never worked with boning and made a boning casing before, I recommend making a simple boned bodice or waist cincher first before moving on to a hard core corset. You can buy plastic boning and it works pretty well for starters, but you're right, there is nothing like a great steel-boned corset! The links above should have everything you will need and then some! When you go to the fabric store, make sure to pick up a tracing wheel and chalk tracing paper to get the lines for the boning casing just right on your fabric. When shopping for patterns, you may want to stick to the ones with vertical boning casings to begin with. I tried to make Simplicity 2890 and it was -insane-!! Have fun! I think you will really enjoy it!
Thanks for the links; after PirateFest, my roommate wants to start making my corsets. The supply sites will be a big help!
Hi, i always buy my corsetry supplies from Vena Cava design, they are quite cheap compared to most suppliers and deliver really quickly.I started making corsets with plastic boning (rigilene) then moved onto steel boning,in fact i bought a dvd from Vena Cava taking you step by step into making a steel boned corset, you get a corset pattern with it too.Hope this helps.
