I need a little help, y'all!

So, in tribute to my newfound embrace of the pinup lifestyle, I want to get a tatoo to celebrate, and remind me of all that pinup means, on days when I feel like its easier to shove my hair into a clip and 86 the make up. So it's a celebratory AND inspirational tattoo.

What I'm looking for, is a style of art and i don't know what it is called so I'm having a hell of a time getting good google results. I thought I'd give a description here and see what sort of input y'all had for me.

It's going to be a very small tattoo, I'm thinking somewhere between a U.S. quarter and a U.S. half dollar, depending on difficulty and level of detail. I want minimal lines, black and white, with no shading. Done with wispy lines, much like many illustrated advertisements from the 40s-60s. For the image itself, I want a girl in a traditional pinup pose. Not sure which yet (bc i cant find any to consider!) Dita Von Teese's champagne glass logo is precisely what I have in mind, but without the glass, and I don't want to copy hers. It's just an inspiration.

What is this style of drawing called? I'm hoping to have a few to bring to my artist, and have him create something great.

There are some tattoo catalogue type websites out there, though I would suggest it would be just as easy to search for "pin-up tattoo" in google images, you might be able to find enough examples there that you can print off and take to an artist and discuss something original with those as inspiration.

Thanks for the reply, pepsi. I google'd for a while with various versions of that search, and found more pics of modern pinup girls WITH tattoos, and classic bicep tattoos with lots of color and detail like the GI's in the war had. I can find lots of vintage advertisements with the wispy minimal lined housewife or what not, but no naked women. grrrrrr.

Sucks that you're having no luck - there are some body mod sites with galleries that might have something... There are some pin-up on here, I think a lot of them are the classic bicep ones, but there are are 200 or so pages so there might be something in there if you want to trawl through them all.

Also, you could try somewhere like Livejournal - there are some great tattoo communities on there where someone might be able to come up with some suggestions.

google "sailor jerry tattoo art" or somthing of that same ilk. Sailor jerry's stuff is iconic pinup/tattoo. I think that's a good place to start.
