Pinup is about curves and especially that hourglass figure that, alas, nature did not give me.  I'm short waisted and was recently annoyed that a corset didn't give me enough of an hourglass look, although I pulled it pretty tight in back.  Has anybody ever had to deal with this?  I thought of padding my hips just a bit, but I didn't get any further than that thought to figuring out a solution.  I've got the backside curve, but I was wondering if it was possible just to exaggerate the hip curve so it looks better from the front.  (Umm, we pad the bras, so why not the hips too?)  Any thoughts, tips, or costuming/wardrobe tricks?

I use what Katie Did Morticia corsets. I am also short waisted. the idea with this corset is it does not pull in at hips or rib cage and concentrates at pulling in the waist, this gives that Jessica Rabbit look, It makes my waist look tiny in comparison to my hips I have never found a corset as effective as this is and I have worn corsets for 25 years
Yep, I have an hour glass figure. Completely natural... Doesn't get me any extra work though....

Ok, I don't know a quick fix, or a wardrobe fix, but I will tell you how I got the hourglass figure the natural way...Yoga. And lots of it. Bike riding and rollerskating builds great, muscular legs too. I do a hundred crunches in my bed before I go to sleep. Keeps my stomach a nice 27, (AND I EAT ALOT) and its easy on the back doing it in bed. Wanna lose a pound or two? Try kelp, but only one pill a day, and only for a few weeks. You can't over do it otherwise you get acne. Brew green tea, and drink it all day. Kills your appetite and speeds up your metabolism. Substitute mayo for the mayo made with olive oil, and butter for the butter made with olive oil. Try using pecan oil, its even less-fattening than olive oil. Eat fish and drink skim or non fat milk. Eat wheat instead of white. Get your thyroid levels checked, (this is important, ALOT of people have thyroid problems now) and plenty of sleep. Sleeping in slightly colder temps will burn calories in your sleep. Work your butt and stomach as much as possible. These are your power houses and will help you keep the rest of your body in shape. Have fun with excercise, dancing is very rewarding. House cleaning burns ALOT (more than you think) of calories. Make sure you take your vitamins. Work your brain. It burns calories as well. I could go on, but I don't want to bore..

Great suggestions! You should head over to the Heath and Fitness forum and add this to some of the threads there. It's good advice, but this thread is mainly about padding and cinching. Since we already have threads on exercise and eating I'd rather this not not veer off track. Thanks again for the good advice though.

Hmm... I didn't know there was a health and fitness thread, I'd better look for it! Thanks :-D
Sweety, I'm right there with you... But, I think I have it worse: I have an abnormally large rib cage (a plastic surgeon said this to me), narrow hips, no butt, and my waist is the same size as my hips. My torso is long with short legs..... and my breasts are on the small side.... I am the least likely body type to have that figure so if you figure out anything that helps you out, PLEASE: send it my way.
