As a hobbyist model, in order to get photos, go out there and network.  Find photographers who's style you like.  Find guys just starting out.  Get them to shoot you.

But more importantly.  Find car clubs.  Find bands.  Find stores.  Find designers. Find stores.  Find car and motorcycle builders.  Find anyone who need models.  Talk to them.  Once you have a network, photographers will want to shoot with you because you have access to things they need.  Clothes.  Locations.  Cars.  Etc.

I'll let you in on a secret.  In fashion photography, the stylist is often times the most important person in a shoot.   Because they're the ones who have access to clothes.

Now there are two books I'd recommend for any new model.

The first is "Posing For The Camera" by Harriett Shepard and Lenore Meyer.  It was written in 1961 but it's still the best book out there.  You can get it on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1438288301/?tag=glamourphotog-20

It's also around the internet as a pdf download.

The second is if you're going to do pin-up.  "Peep-Machine Pin Ups: 1940s - 1950s Mutoscope Art"

http://www.amazon.com/Peep-Machine-Pin-Ups-1940s-1950s-Mutoscope-Sc...

Literally every set up, every pose and every expression you'll ever need is in there.  Just get the book and practice the poses.

Good luck and have fun

You can use the advanced search to find people in your area (including photogs), and if you want to book some shoots, head on over to the casting calls and post something there. It goes out to our members over twitter, and is where people go when looking for models or photogs. If you have any questions feel free to ask me or any of the other Madams, it's what we're here for.

Also, take some tome to read the modeling section of this forum. There are a ton of posts about getting started and doing shoots.

Good luck.

I'm in the same boat! I love shooting pin-up and I would love advice and feedback!
Thank you for this forum! I am looking to start out Pin Up modeling as a hobby and possibley some extra income :) This advice was amazing! Thank you!
Speaking as a stylist here, one really important thing is, whether you get paid or not, be professional if you want to keep getting opportunities.  Be on time, come with your manicure and pedicure done, learn to pose, have a kit that goes with you, no matter what you are told to bring.  (plain 2" to 3" pumps and flats in light and dark, basic makeup and hair necessities, light and dark underwear.)  Treat any clothing you wear with respect, as well as the support staff, if there is any.  Take a friend to a shoot that will have the sense to just be there and not interrupt.
note to self maybe you should invest in lower heels and flats.....seriously I do not own a single pair of flats and all my heels are over 4 inches for the most part. I just cleaned out most of the lower ones because they have sat unused for years!
