Ugh One Uppers!!

Do you know one of these? The kind of people that constantly feel the need to make themselves feel better than you? I'll give you an example: I'm a mom to an almost 2 yr old, so on my facebook I like to post about her little milestones. A fellow mom friend likes to chime in and point out what her child is doing better. He's 2 months older than my daughter! She also did this while I was losing pregnancy weight, because she lost hers quicker than I did. WTF? Who does that?!

Tell me your one-upper stories! I know I'm not the only one who has em, lol!

I hate bubble bursters, although I'm sure everyone is guilty of having done it at one point or another. It's one thing to have bragging rights (hell, I'll admit to calling my rights and bragging if I find it's deserved), but it's another thing to do it just to piss others off by flat lying out of your ass, and doing so to deliberately make them feel like a steaming piece of s***.
I usually just ignore it when someone goes on a brag spree, but it's been getting on my nerves lately because my ex keeps doing it. The other day when he was picking up our son, my son started going on about "Mommy's new car", to which my ex asked what he was talking about. I explained that I was trading in my car for a new one since I have a baby on the way and need something more practical. To which, he asks "How are you going to afford what the trade it won't cover?" (as if that's any of his business), and then goes on to say, "Yeah once the money from my grandma's will (his grandmother passed away two days prior to this conversation) comes in, I'm going to pay off my truck and trade it in for a new Camero." ...Seriously?

One-uppers really get to me; I have a low self esteem anyway so when someone shoots me down or gets one up on me I get really down. I've now been single for two years and everytime we go out I never get bought any drinks, but my friends get bought all their drinks. The other night it got too much and I went home and cried. Happy times.

I went to Mardi Gras with a girl like that. Made the trip really difficult. My boyfriend at the time mentioned that he just gone skydiving for the first time, she taught it. We were in a vintage store and I mentioned I was starting school for History of Fashion that year, she already had a degree in it! I really could not stand her.... makes me kinda mad thinking about it in fact. I need another trip to Marti Gras to make up for it. LOL

UGH I HATE that!!! I get that all the time at work. Being a stripper I am in the minority because I don't have kids. I'm constantly getting one-upped by the moms, every time I say "I'm tired"...oh man I can't POSSIBLY be that tired.....they were up wayyy earlier than me. Or when I'm feeling a little bloated god forbid I complain, then I have to hear about how much weight they gained after they had their child, etc....

I'm not saying I don't appreciate what it takes to be a mother, especially a single one and working a job like this at the same time, BUT, for the purpose of the conversation, I think I've made my point.

In the spirit of things, yes I have experienced one uppers. Mainly with the fact that I'm 22, all the girls I went to school with have a minimum of 3 kids now. I don't have any. They feel they can one up me with that.

I know how that feels. When I was single I had a friend that every time we went out, the guys would flock to her and it was like I was invisible.

Kristy I feel your pain, I dance and dont have kids yet either, plus my husband doesnt mind that i dance. It really annoys some of the other girls, especially the older ones that never did anything else but dance and neglect the future. There is one lady that tells me how fat I am when I walk in with a fast food dinner. I just play it off, I dont dare comment about her 1980's bangs or 30 yrold strech marks... eew

CONFESSION, I have been a one-upper, but with good cause... let me explain,
my husband's ex-wife is a real gem, bipolar and a drug addict. Needless to say she is gettng worse with time. She receives child support money while her son lives with us. My husband is currently deployed, and I was lef to deal with her by myself. She tried to "kill" me one day.. via text message. She has lied about the money she recieves from my husband and tries to tell me that they still sleep together. She was dealing with CPS and my step son begged her to let him stay with me, which pissed her off. A symptom of Bipolar disorder is paranoia, which she lets out on me, and I gladly feed. When she asks why I think that Im better than her, I reply " Mabey its yo that think you are inferrior to me, I mean our family does not see the troubles you do and we seem to be more emotionally stable than you." I try to use big words because she has trouble following along... mean I know, but she statred it LOL.
