Today's format is gonna be a little different to make up for the past few that I've missed.

12 Murder Facts!

1.) Men are killed more often than women. In 2005 4 men were killed for ever 1 woman.

2.) You are more likely to be killed by someone you know. Only 16% of men are killed by strangers, that number drops to 9% for women.

3.)You are most likely to be killed by someone of your own race. Almost half of all murder is white on white, about 41% is black on black, only 4% is white on black.

4.) Teenagers and people in their early 20's are most likely to be killed.

5.) Saturday, followed closely by Friday, is the most murderous day of the week.

6.) The day gets more dangerous as it gets later. Mornings are safest, followed by afternoons, but at 6PM murder goes WAY up peaking at 11 before tapering off again.

7.) You can get killed at work. Counter to fact #6 over 800 people are killed at work each year.

8.) Driving a cab is the most dangerous legitimate job in america. 15 out of 100k drivers are killed each year compared to 9 out of 100k police officers.

9.) Intoxication kills. Numbers go up on both sides when you start drinking.

10.) Resisting seems like a good idea. 63% of survivors say that they think their resistance helped them, only 7% feel it made it worse.

11.) Guns kill better. 2/3 of all murders involve firearms, sharp instruments are number 2 at 17%, blunt instruments are only 6%.

12.) You probably won't be murdered. 1 in 217 americans will be killed in their lifetime, that's 1 out of 16,919 every year.

Hrmm... so if you're a white, drunk, male, 18 year old cabbie picking up a fare at 11PM... you're probably gonna die, lol!
