As a kid, my mother only bought clothes in autumnal colors, beige, and creams, so as an adult, I rebelled against them with FURY. In my wardrobe now there is almost none to be found, except garnet-red, a favorite of romantic-goth days. So when a customer requested autumnal custom colors for some of my bow chokers, I resisted for a while, then finally went out and bought a bunch of ribbons in olive greens, beige, cream, rust-orange, and charcoal gray.
I am never going to limit my color scheme again! I could not believe how beautiful these colors that I had thought so dull could look when made in satin, lace, and velvets. Though I've been busy with a big project, I got carried away with these new colors and made a few new, steampunk-inspired designs in addition to the custom requests.
I never thought I'd say it, but-- I love working with gold-tone metals now! Hee hee!
