Creating PinupLifestyle.com

Unfortunately I have to give credit where credit is due, and admit that PL was originally not my brilliant idea. It actually came from my boyfriend, Edson (aka Coke Lover aka Daddy Cool) who semi-casually suggested it to me a few months ago. Though I was
intrigued by the idea, I felt as though I were slightly under-qualified to create an entire social network.

A couple years ago, Edson took on the role himself creating a networking site for auto-enthusiasts. It was extremely successful, and had thousands of members. He has more recently created YourCrate.com, another successful social networking site for DJs and music lovers. When he mentioned creating PL to me again a couple weeks ago something had changed in me, and knowing I would have Edson’s experience and
expertise behind me, I said, “I wanna do it!"

As I began searching for similar sites, I kept noticing how much this industry/lifestyle is lacking interconnectivity. There was literally NOTHING like what I was envisioning for PL. The most closely related sites were ones that showcased photos - but that’s ALL they did. Maybe one or two had a forum, but no one was even using them! I just kept researching and learning and finding all these models, photographers, and clothing companies that were just.. so spread out! Without searching the internet for days, no one would EVER find them. This only added fuel to my fire and helped me define exactly what I wanted the site to become; THE meeting place for ALL people that are inspired by the Pinup Lifestyle. That was to include models, photographers, designers,
artists, performers, fans; literally everyone! PinupLifestyle is going to be THE networking hub for members of this Lifestyle.

For the first couple days after launching the site out of beta testing, membership was pretty slow. By day three, I have to admit I was getting pretty discouraged. I didn’t know what to expect! Then all of a sudden, new member to approve: Bernie Dexter! Yeah,
Bernie Dexter was member #11 of PL!! You can’t even prepare for that! Membership completely (and unexpectedly) EXPLODED after that (thank you, Bernie)! In our first week, over 600 members joined PinupLifestyle! 600 quality, contributing members! Now only in week two, I am already seeing models hooking up with photographers and clothing companies, photographers using PL to find cars for their photo shoots. And that’s just the beginning! It is an incredible, indescribable feeling to know that I’ve created something that could quite possible change people’s lives.

Thank you to ALL of you for seeing the potential in this site and for taking the time to help make this as great as it deserves to be! The success of PL truly depends on our members’ activity & invitations.
I also have to give a special thanks to our Pinup Madams for jumping in early to help me keep PL properly maintained.
And last but not least, a VERY EXTRA special thanks to Edson for being such an amazing “consultant” (that’s what he likes to call himself). I wouldn’t have been able to make this such a wonderful place without his help.

I hope that you share with me a sense of pride and accomplishment for what the site already is, and will become. Each and every one of you are all a very important component to PL, and it will take all of us to maintain the quality we have already achieved. We have an amazing community here. I can already see so many wonderful possibilities for PL itself, and for our members because of PL! I am so looking forward to the future!

Dee.... Thanks for starting this site. I've meet another photographer and model that I've shot with already and I'm booking shoots with new models that I meet here on this awesome site.
