I started photographing seriously during my college days in the late 1960's and have continued to do so while pursuing a career in academic publishing.
I have photographed a wide variety of subjects, mostly in a "straight" documentary style with available light. In the mid-90's I started to photograph adult costuming events (Halloween Parades in NY, New Orleans, Key West; the Coney Island Mermaid Parade; SantaCon; ...). After attending the first New York Burlesque Festival in 2003 I began photographing the burlesque revival, concentrating on live performances in NYC, but have also photographed many national and regional events (Exotic World Pageant, Tease-O-Rama, NYBF, Boston Burlesque Expo, Toronto Burlesque Festival).
I am currently working on a series of performance images entitled "Portraits in Performance, Performance in Motion," seqments of which have been exhibited in local NY galleries.
Given the cross-over between the burlesque, rockabilly, and pinup communities, I plan to expand my work now to include a series of environmental pinup portraits.
