  In reply to your comment on the pic of the brown derby - it is by Ansel Adams and I found it on the Los Angeles Public Library's photo collection. He had taken a "day job" as a photographer for the city - to pay the bills. There are some great black and white images there from the 30's, 40's and 50's.
