When Birdie La Rouge was born, she was but a baby. She was very small, as babies tend to be, and she cried a lot as babies tend to do. Though she was a small, crying little thing, her parents loved her till the day they died when their ship hit an ice berg and sank. Despite her infantile state, the young babe clung tenaciously to wreckage from the ship and held fast till she washed ashore where she sustaining on nothing but sea weed and shell fish. She surely would have expired from exposure and malnutrition had it not been for Sister Mary Christmas of Nottingham, who discovered her and brought her to a nearby orphanage where the girl grew up.

The Head Mistress was a rather cruel woman named Fraulein Schlangefrau. She would beat the children with her ivory hair brushes, and fed them the most horrid porridge while she and her French lover would stuff their faces with Nipples of Venus confectionery! The nerve!

Ms. La Rouge, having proved when she was an infant, was quite capable of taking care of herself. So she said "nuts to this!" and ran away to join the circus and work the Side Show where she is "The Tattooed Lady of The Sea" and wears a beautiful mermaid tail of silk, jewels and pearls.
This is all true and if you don't believe me she will sock your granny in the face!
