Hi! I'm Arliss James from Orange County, Ca. I supervise a Day Program for developmentally disabled adults. Twice a year I collect clothes for the homeless and plan to increase this and donate to shelters on a regular basis. I spend most of my time with family, friends and my cat Churchill. I don't think my Grandmother knew it, but as soon as she taught me how to curl my hair using bobby pins, she had created a monster. I must have been about 7 years old when the hair curlers and lipstick became a favorite play time activity. I also remember thrift store shopping with my Mother and Grandmother. Its still something I love to do.. I get most of my cardigans from thrift stores. You can't go wrong with a sharp cardigan and a pencil skirt! I love oldies, rockabilly and swing music. I have taken swing dance lessons in the past. And I hope to join a Burlesque Workshop soon. From as early as I can remember I have been fascinated by the vintage styles of the 1940's and 50's. I love watching old movies, especially with Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball just to see the dresses the actresses are wearing. The simpliest of make-up- the black liner and red lipstick is what creates the face of a pin-up and I find it to be absolutely elegant. When I was given the chance to do a Boudoir Photo Shoot with Tammy Warnock of True Blue Photography I loved that I was able to make my shoot pin-up inspired. It was a wonderful experience that made me feel good inside and out. I loved the feeling so much I jumped at the chance to be photographed again by Tammy for her book "Boudoir Photography- A guide to Excellence." I think the modern day pin-up models today are continuing to set a healthy example that woman can have curves and be sexy. I would much rather see a little girl inspired by a pin-up model who embraces her body and womanly curves as healthy and natural rather than thinking that you have to be stick thin to be attractive. I became interested in joining the pin-up style community when I realized there was in fact such a web site that showed that women come in all shapes, sizes and are absolutely gorgeous.
